saab 1.9tid vector 150

Hi guys I wonder if you can help me? Just bought a vector off a relative after selling my cooper, sent it to the garage without even driving it to have the water pump and cambelt changed at 88000 miles, picked the car up for my first drive and the mechanic tells me its got 4 problems on the diagnostics and the dual mass is knackered. I had to drive the car the next day to the airport with no engine management light showing, on the way back I thought id see how quick it was, couldnt get more than 100mph, ok I shouldnt go that fast I know! Ive now phoned my garage 6 times to find out what the problems are but they keep saying they are busy and havent have time to check the codes but it could be the egr valve?? The car misses at low revs and goes into limp home mode , very slow off junctions which is very dangerous. The strange thing is the eml has been off for two days and came back on again yesterday, so I took the egr valve off and cleaned it following a youtube video!! A friend from work has a vectra and put his code reader on it last week but it didnt show any codes, which code reader should I buy??? Also do I have any rights buying a second hand car when the owner failed to tell me about the eml that apparently has been on and off for 3 years!!!!
