Snapped Aerial - Ford Fiesta

This is my fault, but in need of help!!

I was parking my car into my garage, and unfortually, my aerial snapped, well, more like it snapped in the actual base of the aerial.

I went to a car parts supplier, and got a new universal aerial and base mount which is compatable for my car, and now, im getting some radio reception when fixing it in, but once i take away a socket set, it goes into white noise. Am i missing something simple. Should i have brought a ford fiesta aerial and bas mount itself?

Probably not getting a good earth connection between the base and the body.
