Yep i also recall that one was there when I previously bought my HPC from Stuart Wylie
Realistically i would say it's worth around 13k -less than a genuine HPC on carbs
Also need to ask him if its got LSD and it wont handle well on those huge blinged wheels
I can't recall if he was selling this one on commission -if he is then he might bite if you make him a daft offer -because his commission will be the same whatever he sells at .

Difficult to value a car like this in today's market. It is a very original looking HPC so if you are after one then the price seems ok to me. However the green interior and 16" wheels do not appeal to all and if you were going to change either then there could be significant costs involved but upgraditus affects nearly all owners.

Technically it's not an HPC- the advert is correct, it's a VXi. They had fallen out with JL by that point and stopped using the HPC name. It is a tricky car to value as I think it was Jez Coates in Lowflying said it was the least inspiring car they'd ever made (or words to that effect). So I don't think you'd buy it which along with the price has made it stick around for a while. I had one for 18 months and did a lot of miles in it, so it's not that bad. But it isn't the best example of a 7. You'd really want to do something with the induction Jenveys or whatever to give it a bit of pep.

I seem to remember that the Jez Coates article said the VX engine was a stop gap and all they could get at the time, and not best suited to a 7, and having owned an HPC in the 90's would agree with him. However, a lot of people seem to like them. Each to their own.
Were those wheels used on 7's because they had too many in stock, originally designed for the 21 which was not selling? Changing to 13 inch and decent tyres is an easy upgrade which will transform the car.
I know I struggled to sell mine at 5 years old, think I got about £12/12500 at the time.

It's true that the extra weight up of the VX lump up front cf K series induces more under steer but having said that its quite predictable .On the plus side the VX lump is utterly bombproof and a better more reliable than the K series .Its more relaxing driving the VX because it has so much more useable torque than the K so you dont need to keep changing down a gear -ie it will pull like a train even in 4th . If the one at Woodcote had 13 inch wheels on Toyo 888s with an LSD and was on throttle bodies then i would say maybe its a buy near the asking price .Maybe hang on a while and wait to see if another one with that spec comes up and youre sorted .If you dont care about that sort of stuff then make him a silly offer and i'm sure hell be keen to move it on at a price

That's been for sale for about 18 months and like everything Woodcote sell, it's well over priced.
Quite a sweeping statement. Is this based on anything factual at all or purely opinion?Having said that I would say Stuart sells nice cars and is an easy person to deal with in my experience

I think it's the other way around. Those were entitled "HPC wheels". I think also that Jez may have been specifically referring to the injected VX, not the carb'd ones - the early ones of which were HPCs.Were those wheels used on 7's because they had too many in stock, originally designed for the 21 which was not selling? I would have to concur with that opinion on pricing -but I guess that's just dealer margins as a whole I suppose -ie prices are on a par with other dealers such as UK Sports Cars ,Millwood , Sevens & Classics ,Caterham cars.

As we all know, dealers do charge extra so no surprise there. Seemed a particularly churlish response re. Woodcote. Stuart is probably cheaper than CC, Milwood and S&C. I bought my car from him 5 years ago which was priced only very slightly over an equivalent private sale.Having said that I would say Stuart sells nice cars and is an easy person to deal with in my experience

High dealer prices benefit all owners though possibly less so if you want to change.

Higher prices are good for all when coming to sell but you wouldn't pay more when you can get the same for less elsewhere. Like other cars that have been mentioned on these pages, if they're over priced they tend to hang around longer.
I don't see my comment was churlish either - unless of course you consider anything that doesn't marry with your opinion as such?
Given your purchase was 5 years ago it bears little relevance to this particular car or discussion.
