Hi all,

Been searching but cant seem to find a definitive answer.

Do the M42 variable speed limit cameras operate even when there is no speed shown? I.e. if you're going over 70 when there is no speed limit shown, will you still get a ticket?

I was on the southbound side today and no signs were illuminated, I dont think I was going over 79mph or whatever tolerance there is and didnt see a flash but I was just curious. I travel that way every morning and theyre always lit up and I think I see flashes all the time, if on the evening or a weekend I go that way I never see flashes (the signs arent lit up either), so just curious for a definite answer.

Yes they can - I have a NIP to prove it.

Might have been doing a touch more than 79 though

Wow! Police in enforcing the law shocker.

It's hard to work out how a journalist could put a name to that sort of reporting.

They enforce that particular law very enthusiastically; it's the ones with more work & less profit that don't seem to be tackled with as much zeal.
