This may have been discussed before, but security has moved on through the years.
So,I`m pretty sure that you are not allowed to transport fireworks on the ferries or tunnel.Maybe with permission? Anyone know of anywhere to buy multishot, cakes, etc either close to the circuit or on the way down from Dieppe. These will obviously be set off properly, safely and in open space.

I thought fireworks in the campsites were banned now... The last time our group had them, security on the campsite were there like a shot trying to confiscate them - we've given up taking them now

I can assure that fireworks do get through to the campsites....we were on Bleu Nord last year and a mortar went off one late night and the ground literally shook! As to why you'd want to take fireworks to France from GB is something I'm at loss with.

Security will take them off you if found on the campsite.

Tents and cars could well do without the falling remnants of fireworks on them as well.

Got to admit, I'm FAR from a straight-laced bore, and would normally try and take anything to play with, regardless of rules.

However I completely fail to see why you would want to take fireworks, and I wouldn't be too happy with them going off near my tent/car.

I remember the year that one of the camps started going up in flames due to idiots and fireworks, it was 35 degrees all weekend and the grass was catching fire on hot exhausts, let alone fireworks.

Someone decided to let off fireworks and the grass started going up, cue lots of drunken scrambling around trying to contain it until the fire engine arrived, not fun at all.

I remember tents and cars on fire on Beausejour one year back in the day. To be fair, the ACO doesn't help matters by cutting the grass but not removing the cuttings. Tinderbox dry hay and BBQs/fireworks do not make for a happy partnership.

I believe you're correct that fireworks are banned on both ferrys and Eurotunnel. There are shops in Le Mans that sell them (see Club Arnage guide) BUT they generally aren't a good idea as others have said.

1. There are only a few places I can think of where they could be anything like safely launched.
2. Alcohol and fireworks aren't great bedfellows.
3. Do you want the stick/exploding parts of a miss-fired firework landing all over YOUR car? If not what makes you think someone else wants it on theirs?

A couple of years-ago I had the duck-and-cover 'pleasure' of watching some drunk French neighbours launching fireworks in Bleu Sud. Apparently instructions were for girls and "Don't shove the stick in the ground" actually meant "Shove the stick in the ground". About #4 just limped up, looped and exploded against their neighbours tent, melting a hole in it... Their Danish neighbours tent... Thier BIG Danish neighbrours who weren't out as the French assumed but were actually trying to sleep in their tent and were 'not impressed'. The police were called, the French wallets emptied and a kind of peace decended.

Don't do fireworks from the campsites.
9 years ago I lit the rocket that dropped it's stick 20mtrs up, it then nosedived into a tent 40 mtrs away and exploded. I honestly thought I had killed someone as there were bits of sleeping bag and pillow everywhere. Luckily the occupant had just gone to the loo.
Since then we don't do firworks at LeMans.
I run a campsite at LeMans and fireworks are NOT allowed for very good reason.

i have seen the results of fireworks in the camp site and agree with the ban on them, people always think they are fun until their tent or car is damaged then they join the ban them camp.

They look great when it doesn't effect you but when they are close by the are a massive pain and should be banned as they will always effect someone when we are all packed in so tight. Last year someone was setting them off in parking Bleu in open space but due to the high wind they were getting blown straight at the PH site and at my expensive tent. I tolerated it for a minute but the more risk the camp came under (and with security just watching) I lost my cool and after shouting at them with no effect I went over and they ran off. I'm also sure the heli pilots skimming the edge of the site don't exactly appreciate them too much either (as this was in daylight hours).

As one of the recipients of said rocket (the group in the big frame tent, who were sitting with the 'target' tent's occupants), I can only concur wholeheartedly. To your credit, you dealt with the situation flawlessly, and I'm pleased to hear that it made you reconsider your use of fireworks.

Why these cretins want to set huge fireworks off in a crowded space surrounded by flammable materials and people's cars is beyond my understanding. What sort of retard could possibly think that's reasonable or acceptable?

Can you people not just use your brains a bit, please?

Nylon tents disintegrate at an alarming rate when they come into contact with the remnants of a firework.

You have to be a special kind of retard to want to take fireworks ( knowing what the results can be. It isn't pretty when stuff ignites around you ) If the weather is dry.... something will ignite as a by-product. ( and has on many an occasion )
But... as is demonstrated over the years... thousands of retards attend annually.

This year will be no different.

( The fireworks do look nice though. The Dutch and Danes have had some epic display battles over the years )

I don't think Cakes on solid ground away from tents and cars is a problem

Individual rockets launched down carpet tubes in the style of a missile launcher is something completely different yikes

Duck and cover!!! Got a couple of holes burn't in the motorhome canopy from various rockets heading our way over the years and then there's the risk of them lighting accidentally. Never ends good weeping

Worst for dents in cars must be fire crackers on gravel road way. Someone might as well be shooting a ball bearing gun at your car!

And of course we mustn't forget the bucket filled with gas on a gravel road.

By the way I've never taken my own vehicle to Le Mans laugh

Please, please don't do it.

It's not the setting off that's the problem, but the coming down on someone's pride & joy, or worse still their tent.

I think i remember the Blue Sud incident (we were in the SpeedChills area). I remember they were looking for someone to string up - seriuosly...

It was not for me that I asked the question. I had an enquiry from a "friend" that thought it might be nice to take a few and set them off on the Bugatti circuit not far from his site. I`m sure he will not now do so knowing all the concerns expressed on here. I have now advised that he might be better off spending his euros on a paddling pool instead. I havn`t told him that they are also on the "banned" list, like his homebrew in bottles and the sound system etc.

Might well be able to get some sleep this year what with all the scalextric cars running around. Perhaps the Viper might just keep the magic of Le Mans alive, albeit for just a few hours.

You do realise that the Corvette's have been the loudest car on the track for years... and years ...

Some wankel was a bit shouty a few years back.

Oh, I love the rumble of the Corvettes, even the Ferraris screaming their way around.
Have been at LM during the times of the Panoz, so I know what the noise is all about. The T 400`s had there own sound too. Just hoping that the Viper adds a different note to the pre-dawn chorus.

That's exactly what they did last year on parking Bleu but due to the wind the blew straight into the camp site and I had to flick bits of my very expensive tent before they burned through. Fireworks in the campsites are a bad idea, end of story. Not that they still won't happen or that anyone will give a sh*t wink
