Apologies if this has been posted on here already. My searches drew a blank.

Caravan driver tries barging his way into the same space a HGV is trundling along in, the HGV driver isn't having any of it hehe

Interesting. When an HGV sticks their indicator on, I generally assume I (non-HGV) have a few seconds at most to get the flip out of their way, as they don't generally seem to take a lot of notice of whether anything else is there.

The bloke with the caravan was either being a pushy dick or an inept dick, and Mr HGV decides that as he's driving an HGV, there's no reason to let him merge (albeit from the wrong lane). Mr CRV/caravan then just does a daft suicidal move across - which is the sort of thing such clowns normally do to me on the basis they assume I will move (and I have no choice - unless I want to crash) so I do - except he's left it far too late and Mr HGV just rams him - he didn't have a lot of time to react.

That's what happens when two dheads meet - both of them had plenty of time to avoid imo, they just didn't bother.

So, it was fairly clear to me that the HGV driver HAD seen him, but just chose not to let him in, and Mr CRV was obviously going to get in regardless.

Where does liability lie here then? He was joining the lane, but the HGV driver clearly carried on when the car was coming over anyway.

Based on that footage, both to blame. Both could have avoided that happening but chose not to do so.

Tricky one eh? Mr HGV plainly thought he'd prevented the bloke with the caravan from "pushing in" - but then he reappeared as if from nowhere.

Easily avoidable by either party as someone else has said.

Agreed. Caravan driver was an idiot, but HGV driver could easily have backed off and prevented getting to the point where the car is sideways under his cab.

Bonus points for having the caravan bursting on camera.

CRV driver was way out of order, but HGV driver made no effort to deal with the situation as it plainly unfolded alongside him. What a waste of everyone's time & money!

ETA I made a right mess of getting my car & caravan past an HGV on a brief dual carriageway through the lakes last summer, but he had the courtesy to back off and leave me to it instead of wrecking everyone's day. I'd have happily apologised and bought him a pint, but oddly enough he wasn't heading for a farm in the middle of nowhere, so I didn't see him again!

The HGV driver brags about having it all on camera - but it would look much worse if he only showed the last few seconds in which a CRV appears apparently from nowhere. Mr CRV is daft to pick a fight with an HGV though - the HGV driver having already deliberately baulked him from joining was hardly going to be more amenable to force!

The HGV driver could clearly see what was going to happen, but chose to be bloody minded and not let him in. If he'd eased off he could have let the guy in and there would have been no accident.

I'm not saying the CRV driver was in the right - no way: but the HGV driver was clear partially to blame because he could have taken avoiding action, but instead deliberately chose not to let him in.

IMO the CRV driver was in the wrong, but the HGV driver is clearly the bigger tt of the two.

And in a complete contradiction to another well known thread, no brown people were involved in the making of this video biggrin

I reckon that will go 50/50.

Ego-jousting like this is the motoring equivalent of an unlimited force meeting an immovable object.

Wow. HGV driver caused that 100%. He needs to control his road rage and get a better attitude as a professional driver. All he had to do was shake his head in disbelief and brake to let him in. Nobody 'won'.

Well the HGV clearly caused the accident at precisely 2:05....
