Me and the wife are looking for a Saturday, Sunday, Monday break, on the South coast.
Probably somewhere between Dover and Newquay.

Which beaches have folk visited, and what was the good points about your visit there.

Prefer a sandy beach, or some sand, some pebble.

Plan on this weekend.comming, so will also be looking for guest house, or something.

Thank you

East Portlemouth. Opposite Salcombe. We visited last year and were very impressed, it's a lovely spot.

Salcombe is great and you're not far from Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Slapton Sands, Blackpool Sands, etc.

Bournemouth is probably the best of the south coast beaches.

There are nicer, quieter beaches, but they can be quite small. Eg Durdle Door, Climping, West Wittering.

Chesil is also a good one. Devon has plenty, but I am less familiar with those

Another Vote for West Wittering excellent beach.. great place to spend a day...
While I know it isn't strictly mainland how about Isle of Wight... Sandown has an excellent beach...

Weymouth is lovely if you have nice weather. Plenty of beach to choose from too

Bournemouth I wasn't that impressed with. I thought it a little too commercial.

Newquay is lovely, obviously, as is most of Cornwall.

My favourite however was Lyme Regis. It's what I imagine an English seaside resort should be like: Fish and Chips, Ice Cream, nice pubs and no Neon lights/arcades and chavs. Could've spent a week there.

Studland beach west of Bournemouth near Swanage is lovely. Park for free on the ferry road near the bus stop and walk through the dunes to the beach or back along the road to the chain ferry and round onto Shell bay.

Prob my favourite south coast beach. Middle part of the beach is clothing optional and clearly signposted.

Where you coming from? Traffic on a lot of the south coast can be a mare. Perhaps worth taking into account.
