Can any of the Pistonheads watch guru's help please?

I have an old stopwatch as pictured below and would like to learn a bit more about it.

So far I have determined it is an Excelsior Swiss made movement but not a lot more. It all appears to work as intended and winds smoothly.

Apart from the face bearing the legend "Swiss Made" there are several numbers inside but no discernible maker's name I can see.

The numbers within are:
No. 3364
D.R.P. 388992
+ No 100230

The number 724754 is stamped inside the caseback which I am assuming is the serial number of this particular example.

Any Pistonhead would probably find the engraving on the rear of the watch the most interesting bit as it says "B.O.C Prescott Hill Climb 1938".

The Bugatti Owners Club (B.O.C) held their first hillclimb at Prescott in 1938 so there might be a clue there as to what it was used for. Typically I believe these watches were used for timing of horse or vehicle events back in the day.

Any ideas, suggestions or otherwise would be welcome.

Thanks.

I collect Heuer stopwatches and Id hoped to be able to help in some way, but this is far too old and niche for me, sorry.

It's a shame you're a bit far away as it's the first big meeting of the season at Prescott this weekend. Usually the museum is open and perhaps one of the staff could have helped.

Ooh that is nice, what a lovely face, I hope you find out more about it, I also collect stopwatches of various types and condition. Can't help you with your enquiry but had to say how nice I think it is!

My latest acquisition.

OP: are you interested particularly in the piece itself, or in its history?

I can't help but would like to know what's in the tiny spare parts locker!

So would I but reluctant to start messing around at the risk of damaging anything through hamfisted inexperience.

It's an interesting idea though to sell a watch with self-contained spares. Not surprised it didn't catch on. Imagine the revenue raising opportunities that would bypass. smile
