Defender rear door gas strut

Hi,
I've recently taken ownership of a 1996 110 Station Wagon which needs a bit of TLC but is in otherwise excellent condition (pictures to follow). The rear door stay is broken and my girlfriend asked whether I could use a gas strut instead of the pressed metal bar. A quick search on the internet resulted in at least three kits.
Have any of you fitted one of these kits? Some look to be better quality than others...
