Is there any such thing ????
Are all credit ref agencies giving out the same information ??

I have always had an impeccable credit history, even when out of work payments were made on time, due to a credit reduction letter from my bank that says for info go to a credit ref agency ( rang the bank and they will not say what they have been told) I am just loathe to pay £15

Yes - try http://www.noddle.co.uk/

No - the agencies all carry similar data but don't necessarily all use the same sources.

The other two, I think, give you a free trial - but you have to give payment details when you sign up and then remember to cancel before they charge you.

The problem is that you actually have to sign up with every credit agency to see the full picture depending on which agency creditors use to check details with. Cannot remember which one it was, but one of the agencies didn't appear to know about my mortgage...

Might have to bite the bullet then, Lloyds letter gives the name of an agency, their registration says something about 15 days before they take a payment, I could have a look and then cancel, wonder if my card details that are used in the registration will be cancelled as well

I'm already registered and noddle (note noDDle - two Ds, not a pasta-related name) is working fine for me. No signs of errors.

It's £2 for the statutory report from each agency. You only need to bother with Experian, Equifax and Call Credit (who run Noddle).

Not sure if serious. Unless you log-in to noddle with the same details as your online banking?

I registered with Experian, (30 day free trial)
Came back with a 'good' score, 6 points from excellent, there were 6 positives and no negatives, makes me wonder what callcreditcheck, who are now compass and the chosen company of Lloyds are talking about

Make sure you cancel well in advance, they still took the first months 'sub' from my account, ended up having to call them to cancel, they would not refund my sub.. It was all a bit 'underhand', from a company which is meant to be protecting us all against fraud!

Are you on the Electoral Roll for the last three years?

Being declined for credit doesn't mean you have bad credit it could just be that your profile doesn't mett their requirements. Eg a PAYE, homeowner with low debts would be viewed as a better risk than a self-employed tenant with a few credit commitments. Both could have exactly the same score on a credit file but assessed differently by each lender.

I haven't run a credit check before. Quite worrying the amount of data that is kept. Mortgage amount, all your cards etc..

(I just signed up to Noodle out of interest)

Just tried & logged in everything seems ok, their site went down yesterday briefly for maintenance, phew, think my paranoia can rest easy for now.

I signed up to Noddle yesterday after reading this thread. So there was my credit card, my Amex card and my car lease all showing paid in full and on time every month.

I still only got 4 out 5 for the credit rating tho? confused
