Traveling pretty low and at a vast rate of knots, not going ballistic but the loudest thing I have heard for a long time, incredible.

Any reason for this?

Yes, helicopters about for the last few evenings - though some are probably Plod looking for some bandit doing 31 in a 30. Really need a Bofors in my garage roof.

Had 3 Chinooks over this evening, 2 carrying loads. 2 Apache and 2 Lynx. The 3 Chinooks all returning empty after about 1/2 hour.

Oh and a big single earlier, only saw it from the rear might have been a Merlin.

Usually only have the occasional Chinook or Apache only.

I read on another forum, that there was a Flypast over Hendon yesterday afternoon/evening, so that was probably what you saw.
