I agree with Wills. The E92 M3 prices aren't going to drop off a cliff. I remember over a year ago people on cutters were speculating on nice examples being mid to high tees by now. This is only the case if you want a high miler or cat d.

I'd like to minimise depreciation over 12-18 months, any suggestion from those who've monitored the market where's best to put my money?

It won't be my daily but will be used so circa 5k miles.

Thanks for the input fellas.

20-25. Happy to put in more if it 'makes sense'. Appreciate no depreciating asset does fully!

Cheers

Performance cars: Buy in winter (Dec / Jan) and sell spring (Mar/April) for least impact (assuming private purchase/sale). But mostly, just get one!

I'm fortunate enough to have had one (courtesy of an insurance claim) for a few months now. If honest, it's not a car I would have considered buying but I'm glad to have experienced it for myself. The engine is just awesome! I've not really considered V8's before, as I prefer an engine that likes to be revved. This is just such an engine and it begs to be driven hard. If it were mine though, I would probably try and free up a little more induction noise, or possibly swap the exhausts?

Point to point it is extremely quick and hugely capable and I would need to watch my licence, were I to live somewhere less rural. smile

About releasing some more "noise": Do a google for E92 M3 exhaust mod, and for Paul The Welder, who is doing an offer over on m3cutters to modify the exhaust (2 pipe on mine): You will not be disappointed, it is the way it should have come from the factory.

Well I've just bitten the bullet and ordered this bad boy, which given my luck probably means I'm about to lose my job, so if anyone wants a 2011 plate with DCT in the next few weeks let me know hehe

This is a bit sad, but I did a chart of M3 prices in the PistonHeads classifieds the other day...

It looks like a fairly steady depreciation of about £3k per year, until bottoming out at around £8k after 15 years.

Hi guys, it's only Alpine white but looks great in the flesh. Wanted Mineral White but pretty much every car I looked at from AUC was selling real quick and it was becoming a bit of a wild goose chase! Spec is DCT, EDC, PDC, business speakers, adaptive lights, USB, Bluetooth, 19" wheels etc and about 23000m. There's loads of other options but they're the main ones....pretty much the only other things I would have wanted were the competition pack and Business audio.

Can't wait. The best car I've driven.

Anyone else find the DCT a bit dim-witted when reversing etc? When pressing on it's great and auto blip on downshifts appeals to the 10 year old side of me, but when driving slowly, or reversing etc, it doesn't always seem as smooth as maybe it could be? Don't get me wrong, it's still very good and much better than I would have imagined, being a dyed in the wool manual fan.

Like the white by the way. I think it shows the aggressive styling of the front end in particular.

Mine is going back in a few weeks but I've certainly enjoyed the experience. As an aside, how does the E92 driving experience compare to the E46?

My brother in law has the DCT in his and he prefers the two pedal set up to a manual but he often mentions to me that the DCT can be dim witted and very slow to respond to inputs sometimes and that does frustrate him, much to my surprise he had a go in a 2007 911 Turbo and he thought the auto was better than the DCT in that.

Cheers Lee thumbup Must admit I found the DCT awesome, but I imagine a £100k+ 997 Turbo would be a bit better wink

I must admit, this is the only DCT system I've tried. I drove one on circuit a couple of years ago and it was pretty impressive, although I missed the mechanical interaction with the cars transmission and heel and toe. Obviously it would be quicker ultimately I guess? Overall it just adds to that lack of involvement, that I get from modern cars, but I can certainly appreciate the benefits.

Sorry for the thread resurrection guys..

Currently looking for an e92, interested in how people see the current market, 13 plates seem to holding their value reasonably well. 3 year cheap PCP deals were mentioned earlier in the thread, should I expect a flood of them hitting the used market soon?

I'd like to go for a comp spec car, mainly for the interior/frozen paint, however they seems to still carry a hefty premium, does this one seem about right?: http://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/M/4.0-M3-Frozen-Silver-D...

Looking at doing minimal miles in it as it's not a daily, so would like to try and mitigate the deprecation really.
