Currently redecorationg lounge & as a treat to ourselves (oh alright , me) getting a new TV to replace ageing Panasonic plasma. It'll be wall mounted this time.
Been eyeing up this:

Love the thin bezel. Recording Freeview is great too.
Not fussed about 4K reckon bit pointless at this size.Got a Humax box so TV doesnt need to be super Smart
Any other screens to look at? Around 40" or thereabouts.

I would not touch an LG with a barge pole. Get a Panny or a Samsung.

I'm in a similar position to you - quite a big sitting room (about 21' square) and the 32 inch Toshiba is looking a bit small by today's standards. The Tosh is going to be relegated to monitor duties in the study for when I'm working from home.

Having said that, I'm not a big fan of the monster TVs which take over the sitting room so 40"-42" feels about right to me. From a couple of other threads on here, I was thinking of a Sony KDL something or other - looks like a decent TV for a pretty low price. Looking at John Lewis, I'm not really sure of the difference between the KDL42W7 and the KDL40R453CBU (other than the size, before someone points out the obvious).

OK.. collecting new TV next week.
Next question.. to record to USB, is a high capacity USB stick suitable, or is a drive recommended?

Use a western digital Hard Drive they do a specific one for TV which is configured to cope with Video as opposed to other HDD that are configured for jpegs and spreadsheets etc. I think they are called My Book Av or something like that get at least 500gb.

Re-igniting this forum.. as not entirely chuffed with the telly. I can put up with foibles etc, but the PQ just aint there, especially having come from our old Panasonic Plasma. Think this set will soon be on ebay.
But..again... what to get?? Thinking of boycotting 4K.. and going for a good solid 1080p display this time.
