Hi All,

Had a 52 Reg BMW 330I with the dreaded SMG gearbox for the last year and a half. About two months ago I had the pressure accumulator replaced as the original one had ceased to work.

Ever since the work was done on it, its not been perfect, then several weeks ago after being driven out of an under ground garage by a valet, the car is violently jolting into gear, as well as taking its time to change.

No one around my area will look at it (Essex) and the garage where I had the work done is in Bristol.

Everything else on the car runs perfectly, inside is in great condition and everything works, and Im at a bit of a loss whether or not to scrap it, or put my hand in my pocket to go to a BMW dealer to have it looked at. What would i get for it with the gear box running as it is, but everything else in good nick?

Any ideas, suggestions, people with past experience etc, would love to hear all advice!

Cheers

It sounds like clutch control issues, it's possible it isn't getting the right position for where the biting point is.

It can be a real pain sorting that out though.

If you're in Essex, maybe contact PMW in Chelmsford? I've found them to be excellent.

Im just round the corner from Chelmsford so will give them a shout. A mate who's a mechanic ran it over to a place in Canvey, and although It has a new actuator, it still needs a new slave unit, which means if thats being changed then the clutch should be changed, so looking at 1200-1500 quid +vat, not sure if its worth doing or not. Suspect it may have to go up for sale as is. So annoying as the rest of the car (engine/interior etc) is in great condition!
