Yes, thanks. Done it now.

Annoying, as I have owned it since new and it will now say 1 former keeper on the V%
I thought DVLA can correct such things if they make a mistake - I had car registered in wrong name by a dealer and I'm sure they sorted it without showing an additional owner.

When it's a change of address I do it online. That comes back in a few days too.

ok, been on the phone to a very unhelpful welsh woman at dvla.

The original V5 has my name followed by "plumbing and heating". The new V5 just has my name on it because that was what I put in the box for "First name" and "Surname". Not sure where I was supposed to put the plumbing and heating bit! No spaces for that.

So, according to her it doesn't matter that I didn't tick the box for new keeper, it's still a different name on the V5, which means a new keeper.

Looks like I'm stuck with it. She did say I could write to them, but I don't hold out much hope of that.

As mentioned by others on here, I have paid road tax twice for April!

Just write to them, can't hurt?

In the same place you put it last time...?

How are they meant to know that your intent wasn't to change it from your business name and address to your home name and address? Which would be a change of keeper.

If you're just changing the address, why even fill in the name box, especially with different details to those shown about an inch above the boxes you're filling in...?

Sorry, but I really don't see this as DVLA's cock-up.

Tend to agree - unless as I said, the form isn't clear. Maybe they should put "DO NOT ENTER NAME IF ONLY YOUR ADDRESS HAS CHANGED" near the boxes?

That's why I asked the OP if he's sure he filled the form out correctly.

Whenever I change address it's the address lines only that I fill in, never the name details.

I've never had to put my name on the V5 before. I buy my vans new from the dealer. They sort out the paperwork.

and you are right. Not a cock up by dvla, just a misunderstanding on my part.

Yeah, works until the DVLA decide that your house is now the registered keeper because you didn't put anything in the name box...

I must be lucky. Mrs Garyhun and I have moved 6 times in the last 7 years and neither of us have had a problem'witb DVLA in changing address details.

Has that actually happened to you? I've never had an issue with an address change.

Why do you keep moving?
Move 1. Sold house and rented whilst looking for a plot to build.
Move 2. Rental got sold, moved to another rental.
Move 3. Got bored waiting for a plot so purchased house.
Move 4. 6 months after purchase we found a plot. Sold house and moved back to rental whilst build took place.
Move 5. Moved from rental to self-build.
Move 6. Sold self-build after 9 months and moved back to rental while decide next move.
Move 7. (happening June 2015) we will be moving again as we're moving to a new part of the country. Will do that for 6 months and buy again or develop.

It's easy smile

Correct, no ticking of new owner box and just complete the address bit. That's where the OP did unfortuntately go wrong frown .
