MK7 GTi tyre pressures

I've just replaced the front tyres on the Golf and set the tyre pressures as per the handbook, but I'm thinking its too much, 39 PSI on the front, 44PSI on the rear. The ride is not as smooth as before. I'm going to drop them, just wondered what people run themselves that strikes a nice balance between ride and slightly worse economy.

That sounds very wrong. My mk6 takes around 32-33psi

The wifes S3 wanted high tyre pressures, about 40 psi on the front from memory but the rears are usually less. Sounds wrong TBH?

Fuel flap says 2.5 BAR or 36.5 PSI
