As someone lucky enough to be getting a GT4 I have read the articles, watched the videos, and contributed to the blogs It is always stated this is a £65,000 car where as in fact I suspect 95% of owners will be paying between £73,000 and £80,000. To obtain a premium of £25,000 they would need to sell between £98,000 and £105,000 ! Can't see it myself but then I am buying mine to drive.

it's the Boxster with a proper 911 engine that I've always wanted and I'll be keeping it.
but the 987.2 has a proper 911 engine!3.4 or 3.8 they are the same DNA

I am lucky enough to be getting a 981 spyder but as time goes by I am questioning wether it is going to be better or worth the change from my 987.2 spyder the only draw is the bigger engine but after driving my car yesterday I don't think that is enough as my car on the public highway is quick enough for any one and I am considering dropping my allocation although I could perhaps make a premium but I would much rather my allocation goes to some one who really wants one!
At the end of the day it's going to be a great car ,faster yes but better than what I have is questionable !

Well given the choice wouldn't you prefer the 3.8 to the 3.4? Guess that's one of the reasons that the Spyder is so over subscribed this time around. They couldn't give them away the last time, which meant I grabbed a bargain and had 3 years of fun for a very reasonable whole life cost.

I love morales like this, rather than people who solely buy the latest GT toy just to sell on. Think it's really sad when that happens.

Although it does make me smile when I here 911 fan boys are converting away from there icon.

I'm sure you're right that the 3.4 is more than quick enough for most (including me) on a public road. I chose a 3.4 over a 2.7 because of the gearing - the bigger engine makes for more relaxed progress when you aren't "on it" - and that's with pdk. The same argument applies to the 3.8 vs the 3.4 with the (even higher geared) manual, and I suspect I'm not alone in that inclination.

Exactly why i dropped my LOI for the new Spyder and yesterday confirmed this in my mind when i took my 987 Spyder for an all day blast around the peaks!

lol you sound like me now :-)

any one who wants to pay a premium will really want one I guess, if you just drop your allocation it might go to a flipper anyway.

if you are just buying it for the engine, I would keep the 987.2 car £20k to change ! for what a car that is 0.3 seconds faster to a 60 you can gain that back and more with a manifold change to yours.

better is def questionable, some things will be worse, some things less raw, the car looks more usable and more GTS like. (if you want more usable than the new car is better, only you know these things)

can you not keep both for a month then decide what to keep or sell. money is cheap to borrow.

I doubt there would be any premium on a spyder as it is such a small market. My OPC only had two deposits and got two cars, they didn't even push Porsche GB for another car as there wasn't a buyer. Whereas they stopped taking deposits for the GT4 at about 15 (with about 20 more LOIs) and got 6 cars. I think a premium on the GT4 will be 15k.

You did better than me, washed the car yesterday after taking it out of the winter slumber and then immedialtely put it back into the garage again frown

Typical Scotland when hail/snow ruins your Spyder fun, no wonder its got low miles !!!

£68k to spec it the same as I have my Gt4 (NO PCCB) ! plus on the road costs and show room tax etc.

£63k is NOT a well speced Spyder.

No, but it's a couple of thousand you don't have to spec. A no-cost option as the old Spyder.

I wouldn't be specifying 918 buckets if these were available as a no-cost option on the GT4.
