bloody servo - beware

a little while ago I purchased a KA servo - looked in very good condition - no rust and the Ford Stickers bright and intact.

However now installed and when the engine is running it is leaking vacuum - can hear the hisss. The hiss goes away when the brake pedal is pressed. Put a smoke generator on and the servo to pedal seal is leaking badly.
Brakes worked well enough to pass the MoT today but now need to be pulled apart to sort this out.

Thant's bad luck. Was it Ebay? Is the supplier selling other dodgy stuff?

The joys of buying second hand but more than likely sold in good faith?
How long ago did you buy it, seal could have dried out/perished through lack of use while rebuild in progress?
