Crazy R8 vs bikes video

I have to be honest and say that the R8 is well driven but he is taking on 600cc Sportsbikes also you can't underestimate what a difference not having boots & leathers on will make but to not be wearing gloves the guy must have Iron hands.
Had he taken on a 1000cc Sportsbike he'd have lost, but he could only take on what he saw at the time.

One of the main reasons bikes top out at the 190mph mark is gearing but at the same time that's what gives the bikes their blistering acceleration.
A production car won't touch a production 1000cc sportstbike IMO
Love this. And when you start modifying, the gap becomes even wider. Still resisting the temptation to strap a turbo to my ZZR. Had he taken on a 1000cc Sportsbike he'd have lost, but he could only take on what he saw at the time.

I just had a quick look at quarter mile times for an Yamaha R1 and a Mclaren 650S, seem to be about the same give or take a tenth. With decent rider/driver on an average road with plenty of curves wouldn't they be level?

The car would win, most likely. This debate has been done many times over the years.
Nope, on an average road the car gets stuck behind a caravan/truck/bus/group of cyclists just as he gets to the interesting twisty bits, by the time he gets past the biker is already at home tucking into his tea.ZX10R NIN said:

You could probably buy about ten litre sports bikes for the cost of the R8 as well.Had he taken on a 1000cc Sportsbike he'd have lost, but he could only take on what he saw at the time.

What are the 0-100mph times.I still don't think there would be much in it (given an empty road).
Average rider Vs Average Driver on a normal twisty A or B road and the bike won't see where the car went. Almost any car.
Most riders don't have the balls to commit like you need to to go fast on the public road and i don't blame them.
A friend on a Aprillia RSV couldn't keep up on a mildly twisty but completely unsighted A road.
To be fair he has only been riding a year or so, but his bike has almost the power of my car! (Cooper S)

I think you'll find a lot of riders more than capable of showing a clean pair of heels to 650s or otherwise especially on an A road where give & take is the norm. Your mate obviously wasn't confident on the bike yet because a 128bhp RSV would leave your Cooper S but it's about the rider/driver.
I have had fun with a few cars very few driven well enough to get beaten but truth be told traffic gets in the way to make a true comparison, there have been a few interesting Motorway runs where things started to get tasty but yet again traffic put paid to the drivers efforts.

I very much doubt it. A 650s is a very, very fast car with a massive traction and braking advantage on a A road and where the road has a less than perfect surface the 650s gains an even bigger advantage. Bikes are extremely fast but only in the right conditions.

Well you'd better tell the two guys one in a 911 turbo & his mate in the MP4-12C who tried it on last weekend as I was leaving Brands Hatch last week to try harder then, as I left them for dead on a run from Eynsford to Edenbridge.Bikes are extremely fast but only in the right conditions.

The biker boyz are very defensive, again. . There cannot be an instance of a car beating a bike in any way without someone chirping up that it's braver to be on a bike, it's more fun on a bike or "what about teh turbo busa pmsl ghost rider it only cost 1000 quid m8".
If it takes a £120,000 car to get past an ageing 600cc sports bike, what's to be defensive about? Don't forget that most bike riders are also car drivers, but most car drivers don't have the bks to put their leg over a sports bike. You seem to think your view is the only correct one, so what bike do you ride?
