That's the spirit! Don't think his running costs are too ruinous, he's done around 80k with no problems, although when it's been in for service/tyres etc the words 'two grand' invariably crop up in the conversation
I've had a 650 sport for a couple of years now - I average around 18 on my commute, can do 32 on a motorway. It's very fast in a straight line, and extremely comfortable. I'm honestly not sure what I'd replace it with for the same money. Paid a touch under 15k for it at a BMW dealer. Full running costs are in my profile, including the bits fixed under warranty.

Just saw a manual one on Ebay, didnt know they did one.
There's a manual 645i not far from me on Auto trader. It looks pretty decent too. Shame I not in the market for one at the moment.VolvoT5 said:
Why? I just don't understand why anybody would buy a car like this with a manual box. Spoils the whole point of the car IMO.
I would have to go for the manual option unless there was a DCT box available. I don't enjoy torque converter autos at all. Just feel vague (even the 8 speed BMW one that every reviewer raves about)I have a DCT on my current car and only leave it in auto when I'm in heavy traffic. I'm not exactly some fossil who's stuck in the past and can't accept technology, I just like to feel the engine stretch it's legs a bit between gears and feel the power curve.

Would you guys agree that this car would make a good investment ? I can see it being a future classic but i assume prices will come down more. These days consumers buy on finance or pcp so get new versions of cars
I honestly wouldn't expect it to go up in value any time soon. Too heavy to be fast and too ugly (from certain angles) to be a garage queen. The 8 series is only just seeing interest and that's a more iconic looking car with rarity and character on its side.

Mine does 7-8mpg around town. When I first got it I thought I had a hole in the tank.
!!!Both my E60 and E61 M5s managed 11-13mpg on my town commute. Are you sure you haven't got a hole I the tank?!
Most I ever got from a tank was 350 miles....90% motoway.

Autos on older cars especialy ones like this are just something else to go wrong and BMWs "sealed for life" policy means that failures are not unheard of.
