Goodbye (for now)
Discussion
Well, the unfortunate had to happen. My V8V was collected a few weeks ago:
I owned the car for just over a couple of years but, unfortunately, the inevitable has happened. I needed something with some rear seats and I'm not quite ready for a DB9 yet.
As we all know, the current crop of AMs can be nothing short of awesome. A stock 4.3l V8V can be a little underwhelming at times but I can assure you that a little bit of magic from BR can rectify that. Their lightweight flywheel, twin plate clutch, exhaust manifolds and 200 cell cats really help to transform the car. I can heartily recommend them.
This is my favourite photo of the car:
The replacement looks like this:
(And, yes, there are Isofix seats in the back!)
As you can see from the top photo, I returned the car to 'stock' in order to sell it. I'm going to be listing all of the other bits and pieces in PH classifieds (manifolds/cats, wheels & tyres, car cover, clear lights, Tony's knobs etc etc) but if you are interested in any of them, drop me a PM.
And I say 'for now' because I am sure that there is a V12V shaped hole in my future somewhere. I also probably won't disappear from here, if that's ok. Otherwise, who would be there to remind the newcomers about the search function?
And, as a final word, I ended up selling the car to McGurks. (It's currently listed on their site if you're after a well looked after V8V coupe in Meteorite with an Iron Ore interior). Lots of you have already had dealings with McGurks but I would just like to reitterate that John McGurk was an absolute gent throughout the whole process. When I start looking for a V12V (in a couple of years, I imagine), he is going to be the first person I call.

Well, at least you say where it's being sold: So those who want to buy a Vantage that hasn't been ragged around a track, can avoid. What's the Reg number? Gibberish said:

Some prospective Aston buyers out there don't want to unknowingly buy a tracked car in the same way they don't want to unknowingly buy a repaired car. I certainly wouldn't.
Perhaps by not understanding a different view, you show your own perspective.
I agree with the thinking but wouldn't have posted the message. However if I had been looking I would have been very grateful for the comment on here so I could have avoided the car.
When I bought a DB9 6 weeks ago I googled the number plate, searched pictures of DB9's in track pictures etc. I wanted to make sure as much as I could that mine hadn't been on a track.
I would never buy one that had been tracked either......
Lovely car, shame you had to sell it but the replacement is great.

Be very interested to hear how you compare the 2. I am currently stuck in making a decision between V8V and an Evora. Very different cars in many respects but both strangely tempting for slightly different reasons. Can't help but think if I go Aston I'll wish I still had my old supercharged Exige alongside it for hoons whilst loving the V8 as a GT...
