Hopefully getting some headers in next few weeks , already got a wortec cat back. Will it be worth me de-cating when the headers go on ?

Forgot to add 2005 Monaro 6.0 vxr.
Cheers.

Defo yes. More power, throatier sound note and probably a bit cheaper than having sports cats mated to the new headers.

Not too bothered about the noise , my old ro had full wortec inc headers and sports cats. I would imagine it will be about the same volume wise.

I would say don't expect more power (NA anyway), but lots more rasp and volume.

What happens to the lambda sensors and how do you get over the problems of them missing.

I'm also considering going down the de-cat route after speaking to a couple of guys at the V8UK thing (that event made mine sound like a micra! biggrin)

I like words like 'throatier' and 'raspier'... exactly what I'm after.

my only concern is: how much louder is it when just idling?

TBH when I did mine to the monaro there wasn't a great deal of difference, was expecting more at the time i was running 100 cell sports cats as it was.

As for this, I read a thread about it a while ago which pointed in the direction of fitting a couple of these...

apparently that sorts the warning light issue

Their bks TBH - sometimes work a while but eventually they pack up. For a start the tiny hole in the end will grud up quickly thereby stopping any flow to the sensor so it will show failure anyhow. Just get the car mapped to remove them out of the system.

Fitted those to my old Monaro after I fitted sports cats.

Worked a treat, altho didnt have it long enough after to find out how long they lasted.

For the price and ease of fitting, what's not to like ??

If they gunge up, take them off (spanner), clean, then put back on !!

If he's getting headers and a de-cat, he's presumably having it mapped as well, in which case they can just be switched off in the map. Will cost nothing, takes no effort, never needs any maintenance smile

Hmm, yes, good point, for some reason I had it in my mind the question being asked was if the OP didn't go de-cat and fitted sports cats, would the jobbies in the link sort any lights on the dash out............which they did in mine.

As you pointed out, if going de-cat and remapped, might as well have them deleted at the same time smile
