Having an open nat type.....huge improvement ,not perfect...I can still get games where i can empty a full magazine into someone and not. Kill them, but these are now much rarer ,since getting the nat .type to open I've gone from a kd average of 0.7 to 1.2 so pretty significant ( do not read too much into kd ratios though ,I play like a nutter trying to cap points and win the game, usually while the rest of my team fail to understand its Dom,or hard point and play like little kids sniping away with their spray and prey sniper rifle capping nothing)
How to do it ....

Assume you have super hub 2 ?Lots of videos and instructions on the net,you will need to find the ports bo3 uses and go into your router settings and do the port forwarding for the relative ports.
This I have always done ,but always ended up with strict..until I decided to go to my unpnp settings and deactivate unpnp

If you need detailed help message me and I will link you to some useful sites or tell you my settings.
Cheers, yes I am familiar with Port Forwarding from my PS3 days, sometimes it made a difference and others it just...didn't. I'll have to have a crack at it. Been away on business all week so will hopefully get to have a go later today.

Thanks.

it was the unticking of the unpnp that made the difference for me,I had all the port forwarding done with no result, theminute I unticked unpnp then got open nat type.

There is a fix for this, can't remember what but google was my friend. I was finding it slightly smoother playing on 4g (which is normally moderate) than on BT Infinity on open. It's still a comedy effort at a next-gen game and my 'friend list' is seeing less and less folk playing it.

The icr is decent due to the low and predictable recoil but it lacks in terms of damage.

If you're accurate I'd recommend the xr2 (or the m8 when you unlock it) or if you're determined to use a full-auto the kn44 as it's strong close to medium range and that's where most of your gun fights will occur in dom.

For xr2 (or m8) I'd go with stock, long barrel and rapid fire. Plus either the reflex or elo sight. (6 pts)

For kn44 stock, long barrel and grip. A sight isn't really needed for this unless you really want one. (5pts)

If you want to continue with the icr I'd opt for stock, long barrel and grip. Again it doesn't need a sight. (5pts)

I'd use blast shield, hard wired and tac mask.

Then I'd run a black cell launcher for free points from taking down all the uavs and such.

If you go with one of the five point guns and still have a point left id use an emp. They are particularly useful for knocking people out of their specialist weapon. Very handy for shutting down scythes and such. Alternatively a trophy system is also useful for capping and defending b flag.

I'd recommend having a few classes set up though so that you can adapt to the situation. For example if the other team aren't taking b from you then blast shield and tac mask are pretty useless.

What I tend to do is run a class with blast sheild, tac mask, trophy ect to get b flag and then switch to a more slayer orientated class when I die so that I can dictate the match by getting kills and controlling spawns.
Thanks for the info, will try the class set up advised ( very different from what I normally use so will be interesting) + a slayer/aggressive class to switch up to.

So. The Netduma R1 router.

I wanted to use it for a week or so before posting my comments. I wanted to properly test it to see if it is any good. A bit of background though as to why I thought I needed it:-

- V poor internet- 2mb up and 0.5mb down with Sky Unlimited. No other provider can beat this despite checking. frown
- Semi-rural area with no plans for fibre until Q4 2017... at the earliest.
- Everything is slow- streaming Netflix isn't really possible, downloading a SkyHD movie (4gb) takes 7 hours and I'm sick of watching fuzzy youtube videos etc. Stick to bangbabes these days. heheboxedin
- Gaming is a pain. I am known as the Red Baron dhead amongst my make-believe internet friends. I've not broken a PS4 pad yet but have got very close. The lag can be horrendous.
- Alternatives aren't viable. Satellite broadband is just too expensive for what it is (£100 a month for unlimited plus £300.00 installation. eek) and I don't really want another dish adding. I'm on greenbelt land so no doubt there'd be some archaic planning issue as well. 4g dongles have NAT issues I've heard so they're out.

Having done some research, I realised that download and upload speeds aren't the be all/end all for gaming. Latency and Ping are key. I bought the R1 on the basis that it would make the most of both. You'll have to bear with me with regards to describing it as I'm not tech-savvy (I had thought that packet-loss was something that occurred when my missus went shopping. frownhehe).

It is spectacular:-

  • Set-up

Very easy even for a numpty like me. Plug the box into the wall and run the supplied Ethernet cable into any available port in the sky router which should stay plugged in. Re-boot the sky hub and start the box and it is working. You then need to add all of your existing consoles/ipads/phones to the WIFI network created by the netduma. This took the most time.

  • Lag-beating features

Following the easy tutorial, I was able to set the 2 key settings to improve gaming. These are, setting a geographical limit for hosts and then setting bandwidth for devices within the house.

Using sliders which make total sense, I set the geographical limit to western Europe and ping to 50 and less. As such, in theory, any host which didn't meet either criteria would be ignored. It is possible to tighten the parameters even further but the more this is done, the longer you'll be waiting for the ideal game. It is a clever bit of kit though- if it finds a host with a good ping outside of the parameter it will connect to it but you tell it not to, if you want. smile

I also increased the bandwidth to the PS4 and decreased the download capabilities when gaming. This isn't as drastic as it seems- it is sophisticated enough to equally spread out any bandwidth not used. I wanted the flexibility of having the extra if needed without causing an issue for 'er indoors.

  • Other features

You can see in real time what in your house is using bandwidth and how much. I hadn't realised how much Smart TVs talk to the internet eek. They've all been turned off. It was also funny turning down bandwidth as the missus was on her iPad next to me and hearing the necessary complaints hehe. Quite cool if nothing else.

There are also other settings for applying VPNs etc which I've not touched as I don't understand.

  • Results

It works. I've gone from red-bar connections on BLOPS3 and the "poor connection" flashing on Star Wars to steady greens with 50 ping and below.

The key test for me was playing with friends. I end up normally playing with people darn sarf and also a yank which causes havoc. So far, so good. There have been a couple of low ping games but they are more like 1 in 5 rather than 5 out of 5.

Another benefit is a permanently open NAT. This would oscillate between moderate, strict and open but clicking through a few options in the router menu and I've solved this. Before I had to re-start the router and hope for the best. No need to do that any more. smile

  • Bad points

It isn't perfect:-

- You need to keep an ipad/laptop close by to continually rate/block and fiddle. For example, the geo-filer won't play ball if it is open at the time of game loading. It needs to be opened afterwards. Equally, if you find a good host, you then need to rate it (easy enough) so it is in your preferred zone to increase the chances of connecting again. This should ease off in time but hardly something you want to deal with when you just want to play on the sofa. I play the PS4 BECAUSE I can't be bothered with the faff of a PC.

- Each game has different settings which need to be tailored. Not great if, like me, you're flicking between Star Wars and BLOPS3 depending on who is online. As an example, I put Destiny into my PS4 to test the router. I was a permanent red bar with this game. To my surprise, I was still a red bar. Turns out you need to go into the settings (ipad out again) and change some things to make this work. They need to add automation for sure.

- It is an ugly box. Kinda looks like a 1980s' doorbell box. hehe. Yes. I am nit-picking.

All in all, the £150.00 was worth it for me although I will continue to monitor it over the next few weeks. If any of the above resonates with you, and you've got £150.00 lying around, then deffo give this a go. thumbup

Thanks for that. I do believe that the game is broken beyond the strength of one man's connection, BUT if we're happy to chuck money at consoles, games and 'live' then it's probably worth a try. Few forum posts elsewhere about it being snake oil, but others are singing its praises.

As an aside, I bought the game through xbox marketplace and Nuketown is now included as an extra playlist.

Without doubt. Trying to join a playlist with more than 4 in a party and it will not have it. Drop down to 4 and it is possible to sail through. If that isn't a sign that this is broken, I don't know what is.

Still a good game, if and when it works. thumbup

Running with a Sheiva / quickdraw while I work up through the weapon ranks. Some games really good. Some not.
on hardcore i like the single central body / headshot kill.

usually use an icr, am now using quickdraw and long barrel as per the information last page and it SEEMS to be really quite good. long shots are notably easier to kill enemies.

just a bit annoying as i am playing fallout 4 and i'm getting just cause 3 today so will no doubt get shelved lol.

Cool. thumbup

Couple of tips:-

- Latest firmware is .5 and not the .4 that the website tells you. A link to the latest firmware is on the forum. Deffo do that first.
- Follow the optimal settings guide to the T... and then check out the BLOPS3 specific thread.
- Add the geo-filter AFTER you've loaded the game to ensure it doesn't bug out. This is being fixed in the next update apparently.
- It won't talk through a wifi booster. You'll need a powerline set of plug sockets if you're using a booster at present or otherwise be wired/within WIFI range.

Post up your thoughts after a few days. As said, you may find it is snake oil. I was all prepared to be disappointed and to send it back as "it doesn't work" but I was pleasantly surprised. smile

This is the first COD I've bought in years, can't remember the last one I bothered with, I never enjoyed any after MW2. This one is great though, I didn't have my hopes set high but a lot of pals were getting this one and it's a great game for partying up online or in zombies.

We only play hardcore online, I cannot stand the normal game modes. We had a nice run on HC Dom hitting over a 15 win streak with a 4/5 man party. My Class setup is mostly:

XR-2 - Silenced with BOA-3 sight (glows red when enemy is within the sights, blue for team mate). Basically an upgraded red dot.
Semtex and Trophy System (if playing Dom)
Ghost, Hard Wired, Cold Blooded and Dead Silence

I like to be as invisible as possible to enemies, works for me and I prefer the XR-2 over the last burst weapon (can't remember its name). One bullet kill on HC even silenced.

Thank you, Sir. thumbup

For whatever reason, I wouldn't have thought of entering the HC playlist. I envisaged it being filled with crack-addled teenagers with names like XXxXnoscope9172XXxX whilst blasting substandard "music."

What a refreshing game mode. No radar and lower health certainly makes for a more tactical game. Playing this for a few hours meant I ranked my Locust up from level 8 to 13. biggrin

I would have thought the same. I just saw the word 'hardcore' and assumed it wasn't for a n00b like myself. Having now read up on it a bit more. Lower health and no radar sounds interesting (I am useless at checking my map anyway!) Tempted to give this a try instead as I'm losing the motivation to play normal mode.

Hardcore is a good way to level up quickly, you get massive extra points for one shot kills etc which is pretty much every kill you make in hc.

Anyway I digress, they patched the game yesterday again on pic it seems, and now again I cannot hit anything .
Just when I was getting somewhere.

It can still be frustrating but deffo not as much. smile

Did you play the Rainbow 6 Beta? The game as a whole is a bit meh but co-op was good fun. I think the fellas are buying it which may tempt me to do likewise. I'm on the fence though as I have enough to play. smile
