I'm just watching the Spa 6hrs and was wondering why they have the different classes competing in the same race. The speed differential is huge between the Porsches / Audis and the GT cars.
I love the racing but I don't know of any other series that has cars with such different performance.

Anyone know why it is like this?

You could ask the same of quite a few race series. It makes it more interesting.

Having the different classes going all together is what makes it brilliant!

I'd have less interest if it were just 1 grid of 30 P1's. Clearly only the 6 factory cars woukd have a hope - the rest would be irrelevant fluff. Having 4 lead battles at all times is great.
Having 4 abreast when a gte battle is caught by the p2 battle and a p1 trying to pass them all is great. Hell, the series is just great smile

you want to have a look at the VLN, the speed differential between the SP9 class and the H or V classes is huge.

I can't wait for Le Mans either. Eurosport had full 24hr coverage last year.
