Hi guys.

As title reads, I have a 200cup clio which I adore! Absolutely fantastic car, but for some very unfortunate reasons it is never going back on the road frown

So I am thinking of a next car.

Insurance is the big thing as I am only just turning 21. So a megane r26 f1 for price and performance looks Bang on the money. Just worried I will be disappointed? My clio was epic 210bhp, on list 1b tyres it was amazing capable!

Or would it be worth me stretching to a 250 cup? Thoughts please. Sure someone else must have done this!

Despite the brand and model line link they're quite different.

I went from a 200 to a 250, drove the 250 standard for a while and it was ok but felt a asthmatic. A bigger IC and a remap to 300+hp and it's somewhat more lairy but hilarious too.

The meganes a bigger slightly heaver car too and it feels it.

Best thing to do is drive one. But the mk3 is better built than the mk2 for sure.

I had an R27 first which I loved, then went Panda 100hp, 172 Ph1 and now have an R26.

The R26 has a big list of engine mods whilst the R27 was standard bar an exhaust but I like the R26 a lot more. The extra power is so much better and it still feels very chuckable with a mobile rear end.

I don't think I would go back to a Clio again tbh.

Is it not going back on the road due to an accident? Is so has it on your insurance?

Okay cheers for the comments, nice to get some real world feedback.

I have found a few 250 cup's in my price range so I will look into them!

Yeah a crash unfortunately with a tree, love it when roads Arn't kept clean!
Yeah it's on my insurance which is a bummer, but as only 3 months into my insurance year and paid upfront they can re-open insurance with another vehicle so as to not lose money.

But next year it might cost you a fortune - run some quotes and check it out

I have a 200 and bought an R26 to go with at, as what I thought would be the perfect companion. Sold within 6 months and the clio is still here after 3 years. For me just a far more involving drive. Not necessarily the consensus but I never gelled with the R26. Very fast and capable, but ultimately I found it a little dull. Plus the driving position is absolutely awful unless you are 5 foot 5 or below.

This^. I spoke to a young guy who had a RS250 and his insurance was amazingly low, so might be also worth checking out the best car from this point.
