Anybody know why 2 lanes have been closed for most of the day causing horrendous queues (back to junction 28 apparently)?

I was held up this morning - just like old times; queuing from before the Lakeside turn-off!! It said that there was a lane out on the bridge (inside lane was flashing a red 'X') but of course no sign of anything!!

At a good guess it will be due to the high winds. So expect the same tomorrow.

Twitter just says emergency works at the plaza.

Looking at the traffic status on The AA it certainly looks a mess.

That makes more sense but not sure why they can't just say "bridge shut because of high winds"!! As it is it says 2 lanes closed for emergency repairs.

If it is shut then traffic must be using the tunnel. But all the traffic reports are saying is that there is congestion anti-clockwise.

The Highways Agency Traffic Information website has been down all day (conveniently).
