Lawro is horrendous.

That Ibe goal, man that was good, like Sturridge at his best.

Without dissing Sterling and sounding bitter, he may never have the ability to strike a ball like that, and he certainly hasn't got it yet (despite being a very good player imo)

I kinda feel we've done very well this summer all said and done smile

Damien Comolli claims that we have made far too many changes too soon and won't achieve 4th spot. Whilst the guy he is trying to remain relevant in the eye of the media and effectively pimping himself for another DoF role elsewhere, I personally dont think these seasons changes are as a big risk as last years as we have signed primarily established PL players and players that are hard working and hungry. There is a risk anytime there are fairly large changes but I see it much less of a risk this time around compared to last year.

Cue the influx of Spuddies praising the world beating talent that is Sterling.

Are the cup fixtures out yet? My change in circumstances means I may miss a lot of games whilst on earn out in Manchester.

I do have my own reservations. Especially seeing how well Utds and Arsenal's pre-seasons are going compared to ours.

We really need to come out of the blocks sprinting to get some momentum going through those difficult early fixtures, otherwise our first half season could be a bit stop-start!

Don't forget we still have Firminho and Benteke to join up with the squad yet, Granted the Mancs and Arsenal look good but we have some firepower to add yet. ( OK I'm Hoping )

It's arguably the best Liverpool squad I've seen. Maybe not the strongest first 11 but there are 2 strong players for every position.

DC may be right in thinking this team needs time to gel but it should already be much stronger than what we saw last season. There will be no reason this season to line up with a midfielder as a right back or not to trust playing one of three fit strikers.

I would disagree with that somewhat. We have a lot of new players, not just from this summer but the summer before. It will take them time to settle. Compare that to quite a few of the other teams we're competing against and they are much more stable with just a few new players to fit in. I think we have a lot of good players, but it could be a bit of time for them to settle/ the manager to see who is best together and what position they work best in. Strong squad as RT says though, which could actually make things harder since you don't have one "obvious" candidate for quite a positions. It might work well because of people playing well from competition, good new players and teams not sure who/ how we will play though.

Pre season means nothing really. When we were the best team in the country we used to regularly lose pre season games and you'd think "how do we lose to Newport County?" or whoever. Once the season started; different game altogether.

Yep. Last season he's overrated, nothing special, off the boil etc etc, now he's Messi in disguise!!

I'm sad he wanted to leave and then subsequently did but I am confident we won't miss him one bit, unlike Suarez, who is a complete game changer who any team would miss - including Barcelona, the best team in the world.

Didn't know anything about him but found this. Sounds like he might be a good option, given time.

With Gomez looking good in pre-season and Flanno to come back, if Digne does arrive, what does that mean for the future of Moreno? Presumably Digne will only sign if he is first choice otherwise he might as well stay at PSG. Moreno is a liability when it comes to defending - given the shortage of genuine left-footed attacking players, perhaps Rodgers will mold him into an attacking winger?

I think (hopefully) Enrique is almost out the door.
Can't see Flanno back anytime soon. I doubt this season we will see him.
Moreno is young but if Digne comes in I think Digne will become numero un at LB. Moreno to be cover.

I think Digne being french would link up well with Sakho too. Will have a better chemistry than Sakho and Moreno.

From the article I linked to he's not the finished article and can drift out of games. But he' young and will learn. Does that make him an automatic first choice? Probably not. But clearly to have competition for places will up everyone's game hopefully.

I think Moreno drifts out of games too and has cocked up a few times in some big games.
It'll be healthy competition having the two of them trying to cement their place at LB.
