If we average 2 points per game this season then we'll have had a good 15/16. We're 1 point behind my target so I'm pretty chilled. Relax brothers. Let us judge after 12 games. No less.
Been at a wedding so only just read the thread (but already knew the score) - I was going to say, 10 games came around quick... Easy to say it's a one off but we were bloody awful, I cannot see how you go from this disorganised to even average any time soon.
We should be better than this and we should use tactics to suit our striker not make out striker suit out tactics. Fook me it's not rocket science.
Has Gary Mc lost his tongue ?

I haven't seen any highlights yet, but I'm a little confused - how did we set out so defensively, but concede three goals? I can understand setting out defensively and not scoring, but to concede three, against a team with a striker crisis?!
Apparently there has only been 7 home wins in the premier league so far this season, The stats would suggest that the away teams are settling on a basic defend deep & hit em on the brake tactic. The bookies said yesterday that a Liverpool, City & Chelsea home triple were the shortest odds ever for a three home forecast.Black can man said:

Been at a wedding so only just read the thread (but already knew the score) - I was going to say, 10 games came around quick... It won't happen next game away where I think we're destined to play Benteke up front on his own but I just hope Mr Rodgers goes back to basics and plays from only 2 formations that have really worked for us under him and imo will draw the best out of this squad.
A 433 with a front line of Firmino Benteke Sturridge (with Ings, Origi, Ibe etc fighting it out for a start) or a 442 diamond with Benteke and Sturridge up front with Coutinho in the hole. Ings naturally replaces Sturridge until he's back. Coutinho/Firmino/Lallana can fight it out for the no 10 position if we play the diamond. In a 433 if we want both Coutinho and Firmino on the pitch then the 2 central midfielders need to be able to sit deep and cover the defence with full backs that can genuinely get forward.
I honestly don't think its any more complicated than this. A choice of either a 442 diamond with one of Countinho/Firmino/Lallana in the hole or a 433 where the main decision is whether Coutinho/Lallana plays as one of the midfield 3. The rest of the team pretty much picks itself.

Lots of people on here can't understand why you only play one up front, RT is only one of them.

The sense of what is being sought is understandable but it's easy to throw out some form of intended structure and presume it will work.
I find it interesting the minute we leak goals everyone comes out with views on increasing and reviewing our forward line - it doesn't compute. I suppose you could say if you increase the frontline the opposition will have to change theirs to cope but ultimately if you remove the defensive core to support an attack it leaves you much more vulnerable and we don't do vulnerable very well.
On the points above you can't just throw out '2 central midfielders need to be able to sit deep and cover the defence with full backs that can genuinely get forward' when you've only got Lucas who is genuinely able to sit deep as a Adam and Clyne and Gomez aren't necessarily wing backs. It also leaves you with a bloody big hole between the back and front line.
It's easy to sit on a forum throwing out thoughts but very different when you're lining them up on a pitch and you can't do it well without working on the grain of how the opposition is set up.
Either of the tactics above would get reamed with a strong central midfield opposition and 2 fast attacking gun players as it would leave us horribly exposed in the centre and out wide.
To refer to what has worked well also doesn't make sense given how little the team is to who played a few years ago.
