I started a thread on this a couple of years ago, but now its crunch time.

I need to buy my elderly my aunty a supermini since she just wrote off her rover 25 (not her fault, someone pulled out of a parking space). She has the courtesy car until monday. The courtesy car is a ford fiesta, which she likes "but I don't need something so big!"

Shortlist is:

Nissan Micra -forerunner.

Toyato Aygo -at my prodding, she doesn't seem that keen.

Thinking of taking her to see a vauxhall corsa, and maybe renault clio.

Is the clio the next size up or should I be looking at the twingo?

Must have 5 doors and be manual and petrol.

Refuses to have anything german.

Must be reliable! can't have her traipsing to garages!

Any experience with the french stuff would be handy, Peugeot 108 anyone?

Edit: stuck her in a mercedes A class without telling her, she couldnt see over the wheel!

Seat Mii and tell her it's Spanish or Skoda Citigo and tell her it's Czech.

Well, I also have a soft spot for the Honda Jazz. Not German and no need to lie, but it's not strictly a supermini.

The new Citroen C1 is lovely. I wouldn't bother with the new Clio, it's enormous. Maybe Hyundai i10? They're very nice little things.

New 108/C1/Aygo or Twingo look great. New pandas can be had for ridiculously cheap. I10 supposed to be a great car also.
I'd probably be suggesting one of the Aygo twins or a Panda if it was down to me.

The Peugeot 107 (and I think the 108) is a toyota aygo under neath - completely the same. In all honesty, it was the best car they sold at the time. Fantastic little car, very reliable and brilliant fun to drive.

Honda Jazz all day long.
Citigo/Mii, Panda and Aygo/107/C1 are honourable runners up.

Had an i20 as a hire car once, likely well built but not as nice to use as the others I've listed. I wouldn't buy one of those over one of the other options.

Why not just keep with what she likes, ie a Fiesta ? I'd say they're pretty damned good for what they are........Sorry, I didn't get the last part.
