Anyone going this Sunday? Went last year and really enjoyed it plus it's touring cars at thruxton so hoping it will be quieter

Taking my 15 year old step son for his first taste of some GT racing, hoping he'll like it enough to come to Le Mans with us next year

Did plan to go as a couple of mates are racing in the support gt cup but can't find a hotel anywhere within 10 miles with a room and they refused to change my mates room to a twin.

So looks like a day in front of the TV for me.

Went last year and it was great - beautiful weather helped.

The car clubs also put on a good show.

Off on hols tomorrow otherwise i'd be there again this year.

They dont mess about in the sprint series - like the btcc, only with fast cars. The Gallardo won last year IIRC.

Went last year, good weather and great racing. Get round the back of the circuit if you're going, close to the cars where you get a good impression of the speed.
Anybody know whether Alex Zanardi is driving this year?

No Zanardi this year but another legend, Bernd Schneider is driving one of the Mercedes.

You tried Row Hill Grange, or Maidstone side (Travel lodge etc). They are 15-20 mins on the M20.

I found a twin at a premiere in about 15 miles away but they were wanting stupid money plus the flights went from £70 to £150 over night and with Le Mans next month and spa 24 in July I decided against it.

Weather looks promising too :-)

I'll be there - can't wait...

A big draw for me is the GT Cup and in particular this entry:
Richard Chamberlain/CTR Developments Ltd: Porsche 935
Always entertaining!

Excellent entry list:

Know what you mean - you can't beat a bit of mega HP old skool porsche power. Even if this 935 is a bit
like 'triggers broom' and you have to wonder whats original underneath

it was certainly fast last year...

I can't remember what lies underneath the bodywork but it isn't a 935...
Found this on the web: 'Richard Chamberlain’s Porsche 935 replica. Chamberlain confirmed that the orange Porsche was originally built by Mike Youles, in his front garden in Brighton'

I've followed it for years - it has won a lot of races but it has always appeared to be a tad fragile.
I've seen it, in the hands of Richard Chamberlain, start from the back of the grid, work its way to the front and then have a major mechanical failure in the final few laps...
All the while spitting flames out of the exhaust - it is everything that is great about GT racing.

That's Hugh Chamberlain I believe.
I recall being at Le Mans a few years back and listening to Hindy interviewing Hugh Chamberlain.
They appeared to know each other very well and were great fun. I've always associated him with the Jag XJ220's
