Oil and brake fluid recommendations.........

Quick question... Probably done before...

What type of Brake fluid
What engine oil

AS supercharger SBC.... Fully run in...... Mostly road use, occasional track day.

Have been using non synthetic oil as recommended until run in, and Castro dot 4 fluid.

hi have just done alot of research on oils and we are all using the wrong oil if not useing 0-30 or 0-20 synthetic,check out bob the oil guy's web site, number one oil web site, very interesting reading hope this helps.ps i should have thought dot 5 is recomended for ultimas -john

Valvoline Racing 20-50 oil for an SBC and DOT5 brake fluid (that's what I use)

for those who maybe running a flat tappet cam. Many modern oils do not have the proper package of additives to lubricate the tappets-cam interface. Some of the racing oils do but not all of even the premium grade oils. Do your homework. Lee

Joe Gibbs racing oils. Available in The UK from Anglo American Oil Co. Contains extra amounts of the friction reducing additives (ZDDP) That have been completely removed from modern oils. Do some research on the products its all there. Not cheap though but nor is an engine rebuild! Mineral & Synthetic
I use AP racing brake fluid.

Is the castrol brake fluid you're srf or whatever it's called nowadays? If so that's going to be fine.

Not all 5.1 fluids are the same. I had some in on my first trackdays and it wasn't good, changed to motul rb660 and all good since then.
