Been trying on helmets today for my girlfriend who has had her first ever ride on a motorbike as my pillion and really enjoyed it. She tried on everything Infinity had and it's coming down to a choice of two.
HJC IS-17 at £179 or an Arai Chaser V at £369.
I've got an Arai helmet which I really like so that's my first choice for her, but £200 will buy a nice jacket too with the saving.
I know nothing of HJC. Are they worth considering seriously?
Didn't seem to be any noticeable weight difference and the HJC has a neat flip down sun visor.
Cheers

I bought an RPHA 10 Graffiti Lorenzo last weekend, it's absolutely great. Very quiet, light, small shell, loads of great little details on it. The only thing I struggled with was fogging initially, as with the chin curtain fitted it's got a very good seal on it and if I wasn't riding fast enough it would fog. Pinlock insert is fitted now though, should solve the fogging issue. More expensive than the helmets you were looking at though, but the RPHA 10 is a very much a premium helmet.
I can't speak for any of their other helmets, but I can't imagine them being much better or worse than their competitors.

I've a couple of HJC's and rate them, I have one with a drop down internal visor and cheek pumps (!) and a normal one for TD's, they are well made, fit very well and are as comfortable as my old Arai. also the visor mechanism is far superior to the Arai method and changing visors is a doddle, they are a bit draughty without the chin curtain in place but other that that I can't really fault them, I crashed in my track day one and didn't die.
At half the price of an Arai its a no brainer, unless they don't fit you properly.

I also have a HJC, bought it at the bike show to replace my old Carbon fibre HJC. They seem nicely made, fit my head real well, nice and quiet too with good quality paint. I find the optics of the visor very good and the pinlock is very good. The internal sun visor is supurb, i dont know how i managed before. I don't look at other make now i'm so happy with it.
Total bargain too.

Yes, fitment over anything, I tried loads when I was looking and some felt awful for different reasons.
Stuck to my budget and narrowed it down to a BKS or an HJC, went with the HJC in the end as it was a slightly comfier fit, I like it but it does fog up and I don't know if that is down to the weather or not.
Pinlock visors have been mentioned above so I might try them and see how I get on, other than that the helmet is really nice and has a nice quality about it for one heck of a price. The flip down tinted visor is brilliant too.

I have an RPHA 10+ (my second) and I think it's great. HJC have come on a lot since I bought my first helmet (£250 AGV) and I went back on my word to stick to what I felt were premium brands, at the time, AGV, Arai, Shoei.
I have been very impressed with the RPHA 10+! It's light, well made, quiet, and comfortable. The visor change is a doddle (but then so was my AGV) and the ventilation is superb, and very easy to operate with gloves.
I had a big accident in mine landing on my face (breaking my neck at C2) and my bonce was absolutely fine (bar a broken cheek bone). While this isn't not a representation of how great the helmets protection is, I did choose to buy another.
Make of that what you will, but i'd recommend the RPHA 10+ highly

Time to be serious. We all know that HJC helmets fog up and slip down over your eyes thus messing up your MotoGP chances. Of its for the road you should be OK, but never ever consider one for a top level race.
Damn. I had my WSBK debut this weekend too as a wildcard. Never mind hey.
My HJC visor has weird opening increments, on any other helmet I've owned, you can have the visor just a little bit open which is handy for demisting, on my HJC the first stop is like halfway or thereabouts so the edge of the visor is right in my eye-line, a piss-poor bit of design in my opinion, other than that, it's alrighty for the £99 I paid.
Had mine for three years, kart and car track days as well as for use on the road with my old kit car.
Use it now on the bike and it's fine.
It was the only one that fitted me comfortably and within a decent price range when i purchased it.
Very happy with it - padding is removable and comfortable, fog's a little due to chin to throat(?) padding, but it is removable, fogging is simply resolvable with popping the visor a little.

Took my new HJC IS-17 out for it's first outing today. It really is a wonderful helmet - the fact that it fits my head aside, it's quiet, aerodynamic and the visor system is simple and quick to change. The internal visor is brilliant and whilst not super-tinted, I've added a dark visor so I can switch between the two. I went for the matt black one and it looks amazing (for the time being) and goes really well with the Ducati Monster. I've owned Arai Chaser, HJC and Schuberth S1 before and this is by far and away my favourite.
