Morning!

So got a SAAB 93 Aero on the 1st of March to replace a fiesta on finance. Paid £1000 for it and so far im impressed. Its by no means perfect, ive replaced a broken suspension spring and a rear suspension arm but considering its now done 150k i wouldent expect perfection. Ah and the cd player doesent work and the heater motor has just decided to start sounding like a cat being dragged backwards through hell.

So is handles better than i expected and goes as well as it should.

My first post of this nature so be nice..

Looks nice for a grand!!

They are great cars, despite the GMness, the standard suspension is pants, mine needs new drop links I think, they are like serviceable items on these hehe They handle okay too, albeit without too much feel, they grip much better than I thought.

Is your one black or the dark blue? it's hard to tell from the photo.

Yea i think i need new bearings on the front as its sounds a littpe like a steam train sometimes, comes and goes thou. Thought it may have been drive shaft or cv but they look fine

How long have you had yours?

Is this the 2.0 or the 2.8? A couple of friends have the 2.8 with 300+ bhp. Boy do they shift.

Essentially a Vectra with added quirkiness, nice car. smile

Mine is the 2.0t and running standard tune. Will consider a remab with SAABNOOB once i have completed my rather long list of jobs.

Get it as close to perfect as i can to be honest.

Brake discs and pads all round, interior fan motor, rear suspension bushes to name a few, then perhaps a remap

Ive done 30k in mine with a noobtune remap for most of those miles. Really reliable cars and only had a few issues/changes: Thermostat went (£40 and easy to fit), snapped front spring, replaced the standard suspension with bilstein b6's all round and its now 100% better and ive had to replace a boost control solenoid (£30 and easy to fit again).

The engines are pretty much indestructible on the petrols, the springs are a consumable and the CD players never work.

Evening,

So 6k miles in and pretty good going.

New suspension arm
Replaced broken spring
Replaced front discs and pads with new
Two new tyres (uniroil rainsports)

One issue that has just happened is the engine management light has came on, the car is fine and is boosting normally no dips in power etc, ill try disconnecting the battery for a bit and see if that solves it. The cars electrical system does not appear to be its strongest suit though!!

As good as the 9-3 is the build quality and material feel is a big step up on a 9-5 Aero.

I narrowly missed out on a 03 9-5 Aero in black on eBay for £2k a few months back with about 90k miles
