Hi,

I'm after some local knowledge if possible. I grew up in South Wales and my wife in Bristol and we currently live in Cambridgeshire. However, we both want to be closer to our aging families so looking to move back to somewhere in between.

My favourite location is Sherston so does anyone have any experience or comments on it?

Many thanks smile

Rattlebone is a great pub, excellent Boules scene in the summer.

What do you want to know? I'm a few miles down the road, good friend lives in Sherston, I work in Malmesbury.

I know a few people who live in Sherston and I envy them all - enough said?

Agreed. Sherston is a cracking little town. With some fantastic roads around it too!

I live in Sherston.

It's a friendly place to live with two great pubs, shop, surgery and schools meaning it has everything you may need without having to get in the car. Alternatively, within a 10 minute drive you can get to Malmesbury or Tetbury. It's a really nice spot this time of year if you have a dog or run/walk.

I work in Bristol and get to the city centre in less than 30 minutes.

More importantly it's surrounded by cracking driving roads and with Castle Coombe and Hullavington 5 miles down the road, perfect for the petrolhead.

Cheers for the responses. It appears the first hurdle to jump will be getting our kids into the school which is currently oversubscribed but we're working on that...

Mike - I'm in the same game as you so maybe our paths will cross if we end up moving smile

What I should have asked is if you have ever see the film 'Hot Fuzz'? It's a documentary about Sherston.

Nice place. I have built and sold houses there in the past. They sold very quickly for premium prices

I too live in Sherston, have done for 14 years. All that has been written is true, both my kids went to the local primary, excellent. Having grown up in south london wanted the kids to be brought up in the country. We chose the village by simply driving through the high street and getting the right feel.

I also work for local estate agent so if I can help please get in touch. I often get clients thanking me for pointing them in the direction of the village and all it has to offer.

Cheers

Echo this! As a journo who has worked in the area for over 30 years.
Furthermore, there is no better estate agent.. Period.
End of!

It is possible when not travelling at peak times. Getting off the M4 onto the M32 at peak times can be 'interesting'!

Great roads around Sherston - makes for a fantastic commute.

Never heard of the Sherston Warriors unfortunately.
