Hi.
I currently have on the front Michelin Pilot Sport 225/35 zr18 & on the rear Avon zz3 235/40 zr18.
Not a good mix as think the fronts asymetric & rears not & just doesn't feel good.
So pretty sure the avon's are going. Pity as all have good life left.
So do i put toyo t1r's all round or do i put Pilot Sport 3's on the rear bearing in mind that the existing Pilot Sports aren't 3's (well it doesn't say so anyway). Are they compatible ?
anyone have experience please?

I've got a lightly scrubbed pair of 225/40/18 T1Rs with 1200 miles and an airfield driver training day on them should you wish to stick with directional on the front. £50 for the pair smile

Hi Zippee.
That would make sense if i get new t1r's on the back. Does the 40section cause any issues ?

Frankly after having ditched some Vredestein Sessentas to put vortis on to get a matching set it greatly improved the handling because of the different sidewall make up. I'd allways suggest getting the same tyres all round even if it costs a little bit more. Even a few years old tyre does not have the same grip as a new one.

With tyres being about £120 each they are cheap for a performance car so personally I'd put four on and sell the part worns.

I'm quite impressed with the feel of the Vredestein Vortis but haven't used them in anger yet...

I have the sessantas all round. Did lose a bit of steering directness compared to standard toyos, but gained a lot in stability/compliancy/wet grip, didnt notice anything weird about handling. I pushed hard one day at Crail which is a very rough surface and it was generally very stable/progressive, much less tram lining than the toyos on the road.
Think I will try vortis next though, see if I get some of that directness back.

Sorry I had Sessantas at the rear and vortis at the front, with the softer sidewall at the rear it made it tramline more than I'd expect and not great, with new vortis at the rear thus all round much better handling. I just wouldn't run a performance car with mixed tyres. I had a 997 GT3 with albeit the same tyres all round the fronts were very old and on track I had noticeable understeer and ponderous turnin due mainly to the older rubber...

Yeah age is super important. I had the same experience as you with old front tyres on an s2000 (4years), they got so hard that it was impossible to oversteer or do donuts (crail again), despite the car being known for tail happiness (TG showed grannies doing donuts in one! ). After a little while longer they got so brittle that they started to delaminate, still tons of thread left. Was like a new car with new tyres.

I have Eagle F1 assymetrics. Really good all round tyre. I have never tried other tyres on the T350 so I cannot give any comparison but the Eagles are very good road tyres (wet or dry) and good enough for the odd track day.

Thanks. I am looking for a good "planted" feel at speed. Do the Eagles give that?

I run 23psi fronts; 24psi rears and the car is very planted. Even with 'spirited' driving the car sticks on corners and when it breaks away under power it is very progressive. The tyres are also very good in the wet. Like most tyres they are at their worst in 'damp / greasy' conditions where cornering grip is still good but the fronts are prone to locking up under heavy braking.

had been running the goodyear eagle f1 asy 2 on the t350.
cant say anything negative about them. loads of grip. in wet
conditions missing some experience. prisewise not expensive.

switched over to federal rsr but of course driving in the wet
should be avoided.

Hi Mark - forgot to reply to your e-mail. Definitely not run flats, that's the OEM BMW spec.

I ran P Zeros for a bit (not sure precisely what variety).

They were terrible. Far too hard - clearly designed for a much heavier car.
