Got the gearbox out of the car to inspect the stripped 5th gear, which was totally mashed. What is the best way and what solution would be best to use to clean it out.
Thanks

Just clean it when it's apart for rebuild, any decent engine de-greaser will work fine.

Use petrol and a brush in a well ventilated area, dont forget about the no smoking or naked flames warning on the tin

Not Benachies, that will cause rust before it's even come out of the washer.

Not to mention a thick ear from the wife.
