Left the Facebook Group
Discussion
We people with 7's are an odd bunch aren't we. Can't seem to get along wherever we gather.
I thought that Mark Zuckerberg got to decide who did what on facebook ... turns out that little bits of it are 'owned' by local chiefs ... that's definitely not my idea of social media. So whatever you do, don't mention a Westfield ... but feel free to post pretty nasty pictures / comments about cleaners.
I haven't done anything provocative enough to get thrown out ... so I've just left.

I'm not sure what comment about cleaners you're talking about?
I've been abroad with work and haven't seen it - if it's not appropriate I'll remove it.
The FB pages have changed how they work - Caterham and Lotus 7 Owners Group is now managed by me and Ian exclusively while the Marketplace and Techtalk pages are managed by Arnie Webb & Chris Evans.

You're quite right - not appropriate and the post has been removed. If you'd have messaged me about the issue is have dealt with it and, hopefully, you'd have stayed?

While not a facebook group, there is www.7-dna.com...

It's a genuine 7 you've got there isn't it?You'd be welcome to join. The trouble is that there's a lot of spammers trying to get on the page, you might be being ignored as your project can't be seen when your profile is checked - if you have a picture of your car visible in your profile you'll be added.
With 875 members we have to try to prevent spam emails etc.
Sorry if you've been messed about, we'll get you onboard.

Are you a member? You can see from the bickering and bile that has spilled over onto TWO separate forums it isn't a particularly happy place.
I have seen at least two threads locked on Blatchat and here that are related to rows in the Facebook group.

Eric, I'm afraid that you've just disproved your own point. That point is that all the bickering and moaning occurs here and on blatchat. From what I've seen there is none of that on facebook. Instead just a bunch of like minded people who get on and like chatting about their cars. Absolutely none of the pettiness and infighting. You can see from the bickering and bile that has spilled over onto TWO separate forums it isn't a particularly happy place.

I find it quite interesting how the majority of caterham owners have a tendency to be fearful / skeptical of facebook. I guess once you get to a "certan age" you become a bit set in your ways

The threads were closed/locked by L7C admins.
In the time the FB page has been running there has been only one person removed and with 875 members and nearly a year of operation thats not bad.
The pages have recently changed how they operate - the Caterham & Lotus 7 Owners Group is run by me and Ian Payne of PT Sports Cars the other pages, Marketplace & Techtalk belong to Arnie Webb and Chris Evans - I have no control or admin rights over either.
Whilst you're quite correct about the one incident the community is a happy one with regular, helpful and cheerful input from it's members, as with all pages and forums there are issues such as the post that offended Philip RJ but that was swiftly dealt with once it was brought to my attention.

The situation to which you refer is an isolated case - an individual was removed from the page for good reason but decided to pursue the matter on BC and refused to let it go.

But I'm keeping clear of FB anyway as it operates in a way I don't like.
