Toying with getting one of these; ticks most boxes and after years of TDIs of various types I like the idea of a 3 cylinder turbo petrol . Any experiences - recommendations of individual models - Titanium seems bling heavy , Zetec about right ?

No, Titanium is far preferable to Zetec if you can afford it....although it shouldnt really be that much more on the used market.
Why would you even consider Zetec over Titanium?
1.0 Ecoboost is a good engine, but i wouldnt buy it if youre planning to do a lot of motorway miles or out of town driving because you might find the power a bit lacking.
Oh and dont expect to get anywhere near the quoted fuel consumption unless you have a very light foot.

I have the Red Edition version (138bhp), and it's brilliant. Great to drive anywhere. I do a 100+ miles commute, over mixed roads and it copes with everything. A very nice engine, and chassis is still the best in class (check all the reviews). I drove 120 miles back from Devon on Sunday, and managed 49mpg, but that was driving carefully.

Dan - yours would be the Fiesta ? Tempted but for my use not as fit for purpose as the Focus sadly. Re Titanium - mmm, may go this route as some of extras sound nice but some I can live without really. My use is rural with some long drives on M ways . I know mpg is not as good as advertised but it never is and after years of effective but dull diesels the tech of the Ford appeals very much and after a test drive I am seriously impressed with that engine - smoother than smooth .

If you're talking about the Mk3.5 Focus, then I think Titanium spec gets you the SYNC2 system, rather than SYNC1.1 in the Zetec. From what I've seen of it, it's worth paying the extra for.

Yes, mine's a fiesta (which seems larger than my old Mk1 Focus!). The ecoboost engine makes any diesel seem extremely dull.

I'm afraid I wouldn't have a clue what to do with a sync1 - or 2 - system.It is probably the answer to a question I haven't asked yet ...!

Well I went for the Titanium X focus as I love a all the gizmos, especially the 7 different ambient light colour choices!
I have the 1.0 ecoboost 125 and have covered just under 1500 miles since new. The engine is getting better each time I use it and ok it's not as quick as the Chimaera on the motorway, but will happily cruise at motorway speeds, just needs a bit of gear changing I after you have slowed down.
A great car, handles very well although I went for the appearance pack which included 18 inch alloys!

SYNC is the Bluetooth interface for linking your phone. SYNC 2 gives you a bigger screen and extra features over 1.1.

I own an ancient steam powered Nokia - just like Luca di Montezemolo does - so connectivity not a big deal for me. But thanks anyway .
