Lucky enough to be able to go the next welsh event. Runway and Pendine sands . Will be taking my brand new pride and joy. Does anyone have experience of running at theses events.? Have seem some cars with tape round wheel arches, is it a good idea.?

yes;
though it does depend on the surface.
Dunsfold was glassy smooth, no debris
Bruntingthorpe made my rear sills look like they were sand blasted !
I taped up second time round (Gorilla tape)
This was peppered with s missing, but this saved the sills
definitely recommended

Yeap, Bruntingthorpe is absolutely awful for stone chips, it's almost like the import extra stones just for trackdays! biggrin

I've had chips in the past as well and it's one of the reasons I don't go now as for the cost the main drag should be swept first IMO.

Resurrecting this topic...

Craig says they roadsweep the whole place twice before Vmax at their cost, but what are your experience with stone chips specifically at a Vmax event?

I'm worried that super-strong gorilla or duct tape will take paint off plastics when removing it...

Would recommend covering up as much as possible. My windscreen cracked, front bumper, arches and sills had tons of stone chips.

Well, had a great day. 15+ runs.

191.6mph in the M6.

Absolutely zero stones or stone chips. Not sure where you lot went!
