Hi All,

I've been on a number of European 'tours' with both my previous T350 and the current Sagaris and never bothered to pack a spare 100amp fuse, however, as the car is now just under 10 years old, wondering if I should for this years jaunt. I know its not an expensive item so might as well but it is another thing to add to the list.

So just a question, how many Sag / T350 / Tamora owners have had one go or is this item being a problem just another TVR fable with little substance?

Thanks
Antony

I had one go after about 8 years. Replaced with the encapsulted type.

I had one go on the alternator. Swapped all three for ceramic midi type ones. Stuck with 80 and 100amp though.

I had one of these go on me on the Sagaris on the way to Le Mans last year, somewhere on the motorway to Dover. The upshot was I missed the ferry, didn't get to drive down through France with my mates and ended up costing a couple of hundred quid in amended ferry booking fees and a hotel for the night.

I had the fuse changed to 125 amp and the enclosed type. Now I carry a spare fuse (and the tool to open the bonnet bolts!).

Just my experience and one I hope not to repeat: My advice - get the fuse changed, take a spare and make sure you have the tools to get to it!

It's Le Mans we are going too so think that's confirmed I will add it to the shopping list!

Thanks to all

They are so easy to change swapping them out as a precaution is, imho, a worthwhile exercise. Again with the ceramic midi style.

Saves faffing on a trip to Le Mans. There are three in total. One in the footwell, one behind the alternator and one by the battery. For those that don't know.

Never in 7 years of ownership have I had a fuse go. I thought they were a consumable item on a service and changed as routine?

When I was researching the T-series cars before purchasing I found enough reports of the fuse breaking to make any sane person make sure they changed it or at least have a spare.
Being insane..... I didn't change it and I didn't have a spare and mine broke 4 weeks into ownership!
The flat blade fuses suffer from mechanical stress and literally break rather than blow electrically. It is an easy job to change so I recommend getting the 125Amp plastic body fuse and fitting that (don't forget to disconnect the battery or insulate your spanners or there will be fireworks!).
