997 GT2 vs the rest - what to buy
Discussion
Its early days but making plans to sell the 991 GT3. Ive absolutely loved the car and know for sure ill have a modern GT3 again in my life (hopefully). Im moving countries and have no use for a RHD anymore so 5,000 miles later it will be sold.
Now im thinking what next and really leaning towards a GT2. Making money on the 3 has added so much to the ownership experience it would be nice to do it again - or at least not lose much, although driving pleasure still comes first
I like the idea of the 2 and think it should be a decent investment over a couple of years, also has loads of tuning possibilities and all I can think about is how awesome a 700 bhp pcar would be
also on the short list is 7.2 gt3 with a sharkwerks engine bore out, 991 rs 3 or even a turbo s convert (moving to a warm country, but the turbo really doesn't excite me too much)
my lhd 335 coup is my daily also which truly is a fantastic car. So spend my money what would you buy?

There's very little to touch it, the Market has woken up to these cars and there are usually very few for sale at least in the UK, I can't think of a single other car that could replace what the car is, it's certainly too much car for the road.
Planning to keep mine for at least the next 20 years, I also know that if I sold it that I would never get back in to one ever again, best of both worlds and far far more than just a turbo with 4 wheel drive removed,
Everytime I drive the car it's an occasion and sets the pulse going, puts you on edge and gives you sweaty palms..
They're just beasts!

So,a 2 owner 09/2008 (PCM 2) gt2 with 42,000 km (presume do the deal for 190 - or £135)
Sounds like a lot to me. Would you say it's today's fair price?
Seems pricey. I've not seen them changing hands at this level and a lhd should be cheaper. 2-3 this side of the water have been bought by dealers at £125k with 8000-20000 miles. They have failed to sell them so far at their approx £160k asking prices. Kicking myself for not buying a white 17000 mile 2009 car for £90k 6 months ago - it had 3 ignitions in RR 5 though - probably nothing but they make a big thing out off RR herevnowadaysSounds like a lot to me. These prices sure are creeping up, I'm still keen though - 2-3 years down the line hopefully you can get what you paid for it back??
Otherwise, how come this isn't selling?

Sure it's probably done all 12k miles on track, but those lists of mods should make for one hell of an expereince

I think most buyers of a GT2 are looking for a non modified car, and these are the ones that attract top prices.
The cars that have been modified appeal to a smaller audience, and cars that have had significant work done decrease this audience even further, doesn't mean they are bad cars though.
All boils down to supply and demand and what is actually for sale at any given time.
Happy hunting.

I'd like to think it is because the engine has been buggered up with awful American BS "tuning". The clue is 720hp and 950NM from standard VTG turbos. The problem with this country is that most people think one tuned Porsche turbo engine is the same as another unlike in Germany where cars breathed upon by premium tuners actually fetch premium money. For the car above they would be very well served to put the motor back to standard (it would cost very little to do so) and keep stum about the engine having been anything but as it left the factory.....

I think the 997 GT2 is a cracking choice. Blows the doors off everything especially if you send it to Ken at 9e for a light fettle. Without doing much you can have 650 PS daily driver which costs peanuts to run.
Be careful on the assumption that they cost peanuts to run. Had mine for the last 5 years & 20k miles and to keep it at 'as good as new' the bill runs to about £10 a day. Not massively expensive to keep such a car on the road but expensive enough to worry a few. Would be even more if I needed to replace a ceramic disc or two. If you can afford to buy & run then you wouldn't be disappointed. Just glad I got in before the prices jumped! Like others I have no intention of selling, just too much enjoyment to be had.
