I have watched this thread with a mix or amusement and alarm. I took a look at some of the situations that have happened to me in the last few days and how I have reacted and how this compares with some of the video on here.

I have some to the conclusion that those posting the videos on Youtube have made a decision to drive either aggressively or with no regard for their own safety to make issues bigger than they are. They almost appear to be making a decision to place them selves in the danger zone when they could avoid it or provoke other road users when they could just lift off and let to world turn. 30 years of advanced driver training makes me want to avoid the danger and yet these Muppets want to make things worse.

I do wonder how long it will be before some of this film is used in court to show some level of provocation.

The late indicating has already been acknowledged.
However, the cyclist ought to have been a lot more hazard-aware, and two wrongs do not make a right.
I think before that should come basic looking-where-you-are-going. If you don't look where you are going you will hit something, fact. And arguing after the fact whether that something should have been there or not is rather pointless imo.

That driver must have been near blind to not see that cyclist, and pretty dumb to not know he'll be there given that countless must have passed him in the same manner already.

But no doubt he's out there now, dumb and near-blind, at the wheel of a two-tonne vehicle. Fantastic.

It does absolutely no harm to a cyclist to be mindful of the fact that other road users do sometimes do stupid and thoughtless things.

What's with the rear lights, NS looks like some 'chavy aftermarket tat' OS looks normal.
He just bounced that corner of the car off the barrier so all the coloured cover has gone. Before the crash, both sides looked normal.
I had the exact same thing going home, ive moved into lane two, a lass joins the m80 and instantly into lane 2 cutting me up.

I beeped to wake her up, nothing, no sorry, nothing.

Seeing as there was nothing on the inside lane nor nothing in front of her I undertook, I stared across, a vacant look on her face as she stared forward. She sat in the outside lane for 15 miles, constantly accelerating and braking last minute like a child. Its a growing trend, especially in two lane motorways up here. They join the outside lane and then spend the next 20 miles, braking and accelerating hard, more so if you undertake them. So much so they are inches off the car in front, just to prove a point. Its ridiculous.

My theory is that people subconsciously tolerate a given level of danger. As cars have got much safer, the unthinking driver has simply adjusted his driving to arrive at the same level of danger.

na mate,

more people = more dheads
faster cars = more dheads in faster cars
safer cars = more dheads in safer cars
more dickeads = higher % of dheads per mile

Totally agree.
How many people would drive the way they do if there was a big pointy spike in the middle of the steering wheel aimed at the drivers chest?

There used to be - it was called the steering column!

Diving down the inside of a Taxi indicating left. Clever.
Except the taxi didn't start indicating until it started turning. I don't blame the cyclist for going up the left hand side under the circumstances. Glad to see that they managed to part company sensibly with a handshake!

Edited - I see lots of people have commented the same thing - do keep up at the back!

Article in the paper today, it said

The driver Jeffrey Cohn 73, who has been a London cabbie for 43 years said "Taxi drivers have to deal with this sort of thing all the time and if not cyclists its pedestrians walking out of them"

So if a daily occurrence, you would perhaps think HE might be a bit more careful and check his mirrors.

You can almost imagine his stupid voice.
Bet he is single because he argues relentlessly with his ex-wife about everything. She ended up shagging the postie and moved out.

What was the dining room is now a shrine where he polishes his high visibility jackets.

Every single video, it just makes me laugh
I live in Newbury and this guy is in Reading somewhere. I might just drive around and piss him off to end up on his Youtube page.
Look at his road position at the start of the video = WAY too far over.
At 1:05, much better.
I'm moving to the Reading area soon, so fingers crossed I'll spot him.

It's not illegal to drive by and shout out 'tt' is it? biggrin

Another cyclist one from the media today - this time hitting a pedestrian

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UB_4OjXz8o

Yep a bit of an error by the pedestrian there but the cyclist seems a bit all over the road all the same. Also, regardless of fault, he has hit a pedestrian, so isn't that a reportable incident where police must be informed, so he will need the pedestrian's details (who he could have checked to see was alright or not anyway)? Instead he seems more concerned with putting his headphones back in and continuing on his way!

I never suggested otherwise.

But the more the people that take care, the greater the chance that at least one party is going to be taking care when it matters.

Bit of an error?

He didn't look!

Cyclist was all over the road because that's what you do when you have to brake hard to avoid a pedestrian who doesn't look.

Avoiding the pedestrian, your having a giraffe, only thing he was avoiding was slowing down for the bus in his way.

Agreed. the cyclist wasn't "all over the road" he was trying to swerve the idiot. He swerved to the right hoping the guy would dash quicker across the road, but the guy didn't he stopped, so the cyclist tried to correct it and move left. The ped then goes to the pavement like he's in grief. Tbh if I was the cyclist I wouldn't have cared if he was ok cos he was being a knob.

Cyclist was going too fast then. Be able to stop in the distance you can see is often quoted.

I agree he didn't look and made a poor judgement call but I do recall pedestrians actually have right of way over all other traffic. No point in being right but dead though.

It looked to me that he locked his back brake up which made him go to the left ?

To fast, wet slippery road = accident.
