Not been for ages but what is a cheeseburger now, £1.50?

Doesn't seem that bad with 40 years of inflation.

On a school trip to London, in the mid 70s, we went to one in the west end. Had a cheeseburger and fries, I remember saying to a mate that it was miles better than a Wimpey.

Some rogue in Leicester Square tried to fleece us for a can of Coke.

How much?

40p!!!!!

That photo of the 80s decor; I can remember the counters in Stratford Upon Avon looking exactly like that in the mid to late 90s! Proper trip down memory lane seeing that picture!

My first experience of a Maccys was in Brighton, on North Street IIRC, which eventually became a BK, with Maccys moving to Western Road next door to the Virgin Megastore. It was a kids party and I had a cheeseburger meal, then there was a visit from Ronald McDonald, a Yewtree candidate if ever there was one.

Wimpy was down by the Old Steine, where it stayed until relatively recently.

But you can't beat the West Street grot palaces serving meat of dubious origin.

I remember too much about Brighton's fast food joints.

As a South London lad I remember going to that when it first opened and being disgusted at the pap on offer, milk shakes were good though. The fact that it was more than double the price of Pie and Mash meant I only went the once...........

That looks nothing like the McD's in Powis street. You're more likely to get mugged, it's a sthole

All the prices listed, adjusted for inflation, are between two and three times today's prices.

My Granny found us babysitters. Mint ones. They took us to McDonald's in Milton Keynes. It's never been as good since, frankly, although I have tried.

Always interesting to see where they open their first restaurants but Woolwich isn't as bizarre as KFC opening its first UK place in Preston!!

First time I went to McDonald's was in 1986 when they opened one where I lived which was one of the first three drive thru restaurants in the UK
