Not sure which to go to this Sunday, Blancpain Endurance at Silverstone or FIA Rallycross at Lydden Hill? Would like to see both, have never seen either, both about same distance from me.

Want to keep it as family day so 2 young kids and wife with me (they all enjoy motorsport)...

Confused. Any suggestions?

I'm edging towards RX for the fun see it all factor but would like to see the GT racing too. Silverstone is half the price (not that price would be a deciding factor...)

Have a look at the timetables and what you'd like to see. Blancpain race starts at 14:45 on the sunday and goes for 3 hours. Plenty of other events in between of course.
Blancpain has a pit walk on both Saturday and Sunday which is nice.

Never been to RX so can't compare. Seen it on TV only.

I'd ask your kids which cars they would prefer seeing. I'd imagine Lydden Hill to be easier to wander around than Silverstone so that can make a difference in terms of enjoyment.

Lamborghini had one of these many years ago as static display on the Super Trofeo series.

Having done 20 years of watching GT racing on a regular basis, I'm eschewing BES in favour of World Rallycross. I'd suggest RX is probably better-orientated towards kids but as a kid I'd have loved three hours of GT3 cars - had such a concept existed.

You won't have a bad day at either...

I watched Blancpain GT series at Brands last week, and on that basis I would have to recommend it. Fantastic to watch live.

RX is a great family day out. Lydden is small and easy to get around. The pits are open to the public and there's racing all day.

It's fast racing over a short number of laps so easy to see who's winning. Plus there's always lots of crashes.

I'll be at RX. Again.

Going to Silverstone on Sunday to watch the race and to get an idea of how the cars are running prior to seeing them again at Spa 24h.

The worldRX is great for kids as the races are short and full of action, plus you are fairly close to the action so its good in that respect. I think the BES is more for the adults as Silverstone such a big site it does take its toll walking round there for a day.

Was planning to go to Lydden but due to no trains around leicester area all weekend, its off to Silverstone for me.

Out of the 2 i'd do neither and go to the Masters at Brands Hatch. You could make a long weekend of it and stay on for more Historic racing on the Indy circuit Monday or take half hours drive to Crystal Palace for the Sprint.

Good point about Masters - i'm struggling to choose between that and the VE day airshow at Duxford.

I've gone for Brands (got some free passes) on Saturday then Lydden on Sunday.
I'm afraid I'm not a big fan of Silverstone from a spectator point of view - too flat and too much walking.
Brands is great from that point of view and Lydden is even better.
Blancpain at Brands was very good - will now wait until June for a proper GT/LMP race at LM 24hr

I'd love to be at Silverstone this weekend; not for the Blancpain series but for the Auto GP cars, these are the old (original) A1GP cars.
They used to be the best sounding cars in motorsport IMO. I think they've swapped out the Zytec engines for Lola engines but if they've kept the 8 into 1 exhaust they should still sound good. Sadly only a 9 car grid. (Listen to the cars on the overrun at 0.30 on this clip biggrinhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxcpSgY6Wyc)

Me? I'll be at Brands Hatch on Sunday, as I only have a few hours but there's an F1 demo at lunchtime, plenty of Lola T70's & a very open pit lane - that will keep me happy.

I'm just getting set to take my boys (7 & 9) off to Lydden for the day. For those who've been before, are there any particularly good vantage points to aim for?

Hey Kermit, the best thing about Lydden is you can can see the whole track from prity much any were. I like being at the hairpin, but if u can get down to near the start line and enjoy the supercars when the launch, its spectacular.

Andy was at Silverstone yesterday and yep, the AutoGP cars still have the stunning sounding engines, just a pitty there was only 6 running.

Any how here's my vid of the action:

6!
That is such a shame. The original cars are split across 2 series & these were going to be merged but the deal fell apart.
This could be the last season for them. Although they would be ideal candidates for the BOSS series but that doesn't visit the UK anymore...

IIRC there were around 60 entries for the BES - must have been a busy track.

Very nice video.

I'll be heading off to Brands shortly... can't wait

I went to Silverstone. Nice to see the Met Office get it completely wrong again and the heavy rain never materialised. Brief shower during the Lambo Trophy and that was it.

Auto GP's were awesome from the end of Hangar straight.

BES was much better than the British GT3 at Oulton Park. Where were the Bentleys and SLS ? It was nearly all Ginettas.

Some serious Pork parked up at the Porky centre amongst the 991 and Cayenne dross - two 997 GT3 RS and a 997 GT3 RS 4.0, a 981 GTS and two 997 GT2 bow
