My car stopped a week ago on the M2. The AFM was believed to be the problem. A new one arrived today. I fitted it. The car now runs which it did not with the old one plugged in but it runs very rough and smells ridiculously rich. Does anyone near high Wycombe have an AFM they know works that I can borrow to see if my new AFM is dud. Thanks jes

Yes, but not tomorrow night as I'm at the TVR Berkshire pub meeting.
I'll PM you my postcode.

Maybe it's time to ditch the lucas ignition & fit something else.

I have a spare AFM & live in Weybridge so not too far away. Let me know.

You can run with the AFM unplugged so maybe try this to confirm your AFM is the problem.

Jes
I’m really sorry to get you over on a wild-goose chase, I didn’t realise you run with the larger Bosch AFM. At least you didn’t have to travel far and it was a pleasure to meet you. If their is anything else I might be able to help you with please do not hesitate to ask.

Best Wishes
Sorry Steve Sprint

Jes, you're possibly on to them already but in this situation I'd be speaking to Mark Adams or Jools at http://www.kitsandclassics.co.uk/

Good luck.

chaps - thanks for all your help and advice. Stevesprint - good to see you again last night and again thanks for your kind offer. Mark Adams (god bless him) has come up trumps and couriered a new AFM (its not a standard item on my car) it is fitted and works - hurrah!

I assume MA provide a genuine Bosch unit and the new pattern one was no good?

Spot on. The one I bought of ebay purporting to be a bosch unit didn't work at all. It will be going back to Germany for a full refund. The one from MA was a genuine Bosch unit and works perfectly.
