Got zapped by a traffic light camera just on the South Circ in Lee just, only problem is the lights were on green at the time. If I do get nabbed will there be any way to prove the lights weren't on red? Would there be photo evidence that would show anything?

Local to me, if it's the one between the land of leather roundabout (now topps/pets/goals) and the Burnt ash lane junction it's been doing it for a while.

It's an older style so I think they still run off film, unless upgraded, so will have likely run out. Worst case there is a picture of you going through a green light and nothing more will come of it.

There will be photo evidence.
Some ATS cameras are also speed cameras.

That's the one, good to hear it's playing up - hopefully shouldn't have anything further come from it.

Cheers.

Thanks for that. I went back to check it wasn't a speed camera - it just says traffic enforcement, I've been using that road for years without a problem.

Happened to me and loads of others at a busy junction in north London. Poor traffic camera was going bonkers as it flashed everyone who went over the lights at green and ignored red light jumpers. Either a fault or a crossed wire in maintenance.

If yours was doing the same, there'll be loads of others in the same boat and no-one is going to bother analysing the pictures if there are a lot of others in the same boat.

I've seen one that was doing that too - some time ago though so rare but not unheard of. If you think about it, including the traffic signal in the photo nails those who really are running the red light and eliminates victims of a malfunction.

This one is yellow but TFL 's own website says it just a traffic light camera. They do mention traffic light /speed cameras being in some locations but this doesn't seem to be one.

i went through one that was flashing everyone in the left hand lane of 3 lanes in chelmsford once.

when i phoned the people responsible for the cameras, the very nice lady said they knew about it as so many people had called, it had been going potty all morning. they could also tell what the lights had been on at what time apparently, but she suspected no-one would get a ticket that day just in case.

it was fixed by the next day.

I got done a few years ago by a traffic light camera that was also a speed camera, I ran a orange/red but luckily was only doing 32mph, the 'invoice' told me the speed I was doing and how many seconds it had been on red when I went through.

Were you speeding?

If it's yellow I'd say you were flashed for speed. Down our way the traffic cameras that are painted yellow double up as speed cameras.

As I said above TFLs website says it's just a traffic light camera, they do give locations of traffic light/speed cameras, I've been using that bit of duel carriageway for years and I've never seen it catch speeders, of which there are plenty.
