I am in the process of booking my honeymoon and looks like Thailand has ended up as the destination.

I have had a quote for premium economy flights for us both with BA, which looked like a good option as its direct and flight times suit us.

However, using the Matrix website, it appears that I can get a business class return with Finnair for similar money, albeit with a 2hr layover in Helsinki.

Just wondered if anyone had any experience with them?

When we last flew LHR - BKK on Finnair the business class wasn't full flat beds but I believe they have now introduced full flat beds. You can get London to Bangkok via Helsinki cheaper than the locals pay for Helsinki to BKK !

Have a look at Eva as well. Direct LHR - BKK and they upgraded their Royal Laural (Business class) to full flat beds a while back. The breakfast you get at tea time on the way back is nothing to write home about but other than that it's a good service. Veuve Clicquot La Grand Dame champagne, friendly staff and modern planes - compared to the Gaffer taped up BA taxis.

Thanks for the advice, I checked out EVA but not as competitive as Finnair. Research suggests most of their fleet have lie flat beds now too.

2x LHR - BKK return in business for under £3k seemed like a good price to me, so gone with it.

Thanks.

Yes, that's a good price.

Generally the best you will do with Eva is around £1,800 per person but it is direct. Given you will most likely be using an onward flight from Bangkok to your final destination avoiding the LHR - HEM leg is worth something. You can also check your bags on right through with EVA (we use Thai air internally).

There is often a representative from the internal flight to meet us as we step off the Eva flight and they have even put us up for the night and re-booked when a delayed flight meant we missed our tight transfer window.

Enjoy your trip. Where will you end up in Thailand ?

We have 3 nights in Bangkok, 3 nights in Chiang Rai and 8 nights on Koh Samui.

Hopefully get to experience a little bit of everything.

Qatar airways via Brussels would have got you there for £800 each in business class.
