What with the impending Greece situation coming to a climax in about a week, would people suggest I rush out and get my euros ASAP, or do you think it will stay the same/improve post announcement?

Any particular bank/shop offering great rates?

I got €1.35 per £ at Co-op Travel last Saturday, well happy with that!

Thats about par. Ordered mine today at ASDA, tried Sainsburys but website annoyed me so took the hit and spent about 60p more for £500. I can't see any decision next week being good for the rate, uncertainty is never a good thing, got mine banked and ready to go.

Got mine 5 weeks ago before the election as the euro was going south.
Got 1.37 to the pound via the euro fair fx card.

Might be worth waiting a bit. Greece made their last payment to the IMF with borrowed money - they're gonna come unstuck pretty soon

This weekend - not taking a chance on the Greece situation - probably use Postoffice at £1.36 at min.

I'm not saying they are dodgy, but my works firewall flagged this as a dodgy site, so be vigilant!

Nothing wrong with these guys as I've been using them for years. If you're collecting from one of the branches reserve online first as you may not get the same rate if you just walk in off the street.

Travelex were offering 1.375 this afternoon and apparently are having a Euro happy hour from 11am-1pm tomorrow (Thursday 21st) so probably worth popping by their website for a look.

Same, absolutely fine. Often a queue to pick up currency from their Liverpool St branch. I normally go either to this place, Thomas Exchange on Bishopsgate or Ace FX in Canary Wharf.

This is where I got my Euro's from. I've used them a number of times after I found them on Martin Lewis's website.

Just been to bestforeignexchange - as they are across the road from me and got 1.3856. Bloomberg shows the actual money market rate is just a tiny, tiny bit over 1.4 so this is a great tourist rate.

I've only seen 1.4 (as a tourist rate) for about an hour or so at bestforeignexhange a month or so ago, so the rates now are pretty good.

Every increase in foreign beer tokens helps.

I was told by two friends who work for high street banks that the best way to do it is pull cash out on your debit card in lump sums from cash points abroad.

If you withdraw over about £150 a time the bank gives you as close to the commercial rate as you'll get for the exchange.

1.41 now. Wowsers.

That's what I've always done. I normally pull €200 at a time from a hole in the wall. Do it on a DEBIT card, because you will be charged interest from the moment you withdraw it on a credit card.
