2004 S60 D5 traction control fault

Hi I was wondering if anyone has got any idea why my car traction control system is cutting in all the time and cutting power to the engine?

Does the ABS sensor also control the traction control system?

I took it to a local garage to no avail as all their diagnostics said was there was a low fuel pressure fault but surely that's because the system is cutting the fuel to the engine? Anyway it cost me £50 for nothing so I won't be back there again

When I manually deactivate the traction control system it runs fine so that is my gut feeling.

Anyone got any other thoughts?

You really need to get the diagnostics done with DICE/VIDA to be sure, a generic code reader isn`t a lot of help on these.
A similar fault on mine turned out to be a cracked ABS Reluctor ring.

Does sound like a cracked or rusty ABS ring - they often take readings ok at low speeds but as the speed increases it finds it increasingly hard to take a reading. Traction control is controlled by a speed reading from the abs sensor and processed through the ABS control module - both can fail on the classic shape V/S/C70 a failing ABS module is a common fault - can be repaired cheaply though.

I've changed ABS rings on cars before where they have literally disintegrated on removal through rust so it is a common problem across all brands of cars
