We Currently have Sky, but increasingly find that there is nothing on.

I am looking at the possibility of going for Netflix as an extra to have as well as Sky, as there are still some things that we watch that are only on Sky. Plus our contract is until September

Is Netflix worth getting?

I dont understand how anybody cant justify the £6 when you get;

Breaking Bad - 5 seasons.
Dexter - 8 seasons.
House of Cards - 3 seasons.
Orange is the New Black - 2 (soon to be three)

... and so many more. Plus the movies - which aren't always great, but there's some good stuff there. More than enough to make it worth six quid.

I use it for day time background stuff. If I'm just pottering around and want something to make a distracting noise, Netflix is great.

Once my Virgin Media account has expired I'm cancelling and buying an Apple TV - iPlayer and Netflix is all I ever use now.

Germany selection is better than UK, Films and series.

It's good value for £6/m for a while but I've watched most of what I think I want to now. I've been using Coke & Popcorn and Adfah which have loads of full series and films and are free. And illegal probably but I'm not fussed about that. Will probably cancel Netflix for a while until they have something new worth watching.

Is OITNB s3 being drip fed or will it be the full season up at once? If it's all up I'll binge it then cancel.

Thanks for the tip about unblock. Have you used it abroad?

Doesn't have much Coen Brothers stuff which is a shame. Have seen Fargo, but nothing else (unless I've missed it)

Netflix is worth 6 quid a month just for DareDevil alone!

Oh yes - they have some great TV series available - Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are worth the price of admission alone.

Where they can fall down is on the Films side of things - there are some dimonds in the rough but, like Lovefilm, they go for quantity over quality a lot of the time so you've got to search through a lot of terrible straight-to-bargain basement-DVDs films to find them.

As others has said, using something like Hola allows you access to the US version of the site which has different content.

Bandwidth is a consideration - my crappy 4.5meg connection at home it fine for most things and it will stream in HD after a minute or so, Hola makes things slower and it might take 15 mins to get to HD, or worse switch back and forth between SD and HD which 'breaks the spell' for me a bit.

I use Hola on the laptop and tablet, and 'regular' UK netflix on the BT box. Great choices, and for the UK alone the box sets there are Better Call Saul, Daredevil, and some of the older films are worth the £6/month

I've had it for well over a year now and it's only been getting better and better. Some of their original programming is fantastic, along with some other good series and films. No doubt there is a lot ste, but it's still worth it.

I cancelled it and then rejoined when BCS was added. I find myself a bit bored with it but then I'm the type of person who knows what he likes and likes what he knows. I like good tv but wouldn't say I'm particuarly adventurous.

That being said I took the plunge and watched Luther this month along with Peaky Blinders which are both pretty good.

I thought it was good value, the service worked well, software easy to use etc, however I cancelled it after about 6 months as I couldn't find anything to watch.

It seemed that almost every time I wanted to watch a film it didn't have it.

It does have a lot of TV programmes so if that's more your thing then it'll probably be more of interest.

(I don't really watch TV programmes as there are few I've heard of and when someone recommends one I find that there are 5+ seasons of 24 episodes to watch of the thing that you need to have seen to understand the current episode, I don't have the inclination or the time to sit that long watching the telly).

But anyway, try it for a month, if you like it, keep it, if not just bin it, the contract is only a rolling month.

^^This^^

I wasn't too bothered with UK Netflix beyond the free month trial, but then I discovered unblock-us. Now I've got more than enough choice - Sure, there's a lot of rubbish on there, but there are a few websites that let you know what decent stuff is on, and on which region.

I started a thread on here for people to post the good stuff they've found: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I just wish Netflix would revise their menu system - it's like reading it through a letterbox, you can spend most of the night trawling through it all! A list that you just scroll down would be a lot simpler and quicker.
